This afternoon I took Veronica for a push along the towpath of the Tiverton Canal .No grand vistas - no cascades of tumbling water just dark still water with the occasional V shaped ripple which hinted of sinister stirrings beneath the glasslike surface -a voracious pike maybe .The canal meanders its lazy way between corn stubble fields - its banks lined with bullrushes and water iris which are hosts to a multitude of wildlife .Small brown indefinable birds flitted in and out barely giving you time to glimpse them .But then there was the exotic metallic blue flash of a kingfisher as he patrolled his kingdom - and as we rounded a wooded corner coming towards us was a family of swans serenely gliding in regimented order-could I resist taking a picture - of course not !

Lovely description and really good photo. I like the reflections of the deep blue sky, the swan's necks, especially the leader and the tree trunks. I also like the bull rush standing to attention as the swans pass by. I want to paint it, along with the dozens of other photo's I hope to paint one day.
I'm pleased you had a lovely walk.....may there be many more.
