The front of our house and the Virginia creeper is already turning - what ever happened to summer ?

Summer? Do you remember those couple of hot days we had last month? That was summer. The Christmas cards are in the shops so summer must have gone.

Beautiful...... but yess we did blink and summer seems to have gone again. So sad to have this type of weather for our areas last event of the season (clacton airshow).

Here we are still in summer mode but past couple of nights I have actually pulled bed sheet over me just before dawn as opposed to sleeping whole night on top of bed, in thin cotton nightie with door to terrace wide open. This summer has been very hot and it is a relief to feel cool. It will be some time before Virginia creeper in our garden starts to turn red.

Simple seasons have changed we now have 8 months of Autumn and 4 of spring with a week of winter and 2 weeks of summer thrown in if we are lucky. Like the picture more colour to come.

Looks lovely. I think summer was in April, I worn my shorts twice this year, the rest of the time I'm Cold. G says she's hot, alright for some, but she does tell me to put the heating on which I have done, yesterday I'm ashamed to say I tweaked it to 24c.

Today I'm in jeans, long socks, long sleeved polo shirt and fleece. G on the other hand is wearing chinos, short socks and a short sleeved polo brrrrr.

Actually, it's been quite hot for us for a while this summer, here in the northeast US, and in April we had a really unusual suffocating hot dry spell before we went into our usual cool wet spring. odd year. I've enjoyed the summer; plenty of thunder and rain for drama. No droughts here! I love the change of seasons, but I'm not ready for woolies yet!
