What a beautiful start to Autumn. Long may it last.

Today we visited our favourite National Trust property, Scotney Castle in Kent, just 7 miles from us. We visit it often as whatever the season there is something to see. The acers are just beginning to change colour so hopefully we will return in a couple of weeks to see even more oranges and reds.

When I handed our NT cards to the attendant, she told me as a carer of someone in a wheelchair, I didn't need to pay for membership. I know I can get into theatres and other places free but never thought about the NT. I'm not giving up my membership, however, as if I did, I couldn't visit NT places on my own unless I paid the entrance fee. As I often take myself off to one or other of these beautiful gardens when C is at the hospice I'll keep my ticket.

I hope the day was as beautiful for you all as it was for us and being out in the fresh air for most of it, I'm hoping for an undisturbed night......not likely though.

We used to visit igtham moat. Picknicks in the grounds and then a nose around the house. But we never got to Scotney castle. And for people that hail from kent we never got to visit leeds castle in kent. But our favourite here was flatford mill the home of constable. Enjoy your visits for as long as possible.

We had a day out yesterday to the beach.... icecream and hotdogs.. lovely stroll along the front followed up by a saunter on the pier. Janexx

Flat ford Mill is lovely. We stopped there several times on the way to Bungay Suffolk to visit our son. After C was diagnosed we walked across the fields from Flatford Mill to Dedham and back. We sat on a log to eat a picnic lunch and I have a lovely photo of Colin being licked on the back of the head by a cow he didn't realise was there. A small herd had found us. Happy memories!

I'm pleased you were able to make happy memories as well today.

I have the cow picture on a memory stick but my laptop is being looked at by a clever person as it's gone into a deep sleep. I hope it can be woken up as although my iPad is brilliant, there are things I can't do with it. I'll post the picture if I can. It's good you managed to get out with your dad. It makes everything seem a bit better getting out of the house and going somewhere different doesn't it?

Hope today is a good one for you and yours.

Not much chance of that at the moment I am afraid - V is in very get up in the middle of the night mode - she is also convinced that the digital clock by her bed changes its time in the night and so is wrong - no arguing with that one !!!

It didn't stop C waking up but it did stop him worrying about the clock....I bought him and enormous wall clock with huge numbers. It's 45 cm across with 6 cm numbers.

The fresh air did do some good. I was only up 3 times. I hope yours wasn't too bad.

Happy Sunday.

Oh no! I am not at my best from 11 pm - 8.30 am. Isn't it hard to control your emotions when you should be asleep. I hope you manage to catch a few minutes during the day.

Would you believe I've just dozed off typing this. C is on the commode and I sat down. Sitting down means sleep.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Hi Margaret went through a phase of arguing about the time on the clock at night, easy way I cured that was to remove the clock. I now use my mobile as alarm clock and time check if required no lights or noise to disturb M she still gets up 3 times a night but does not fight or argue with the clock any more.

Best wishes Tim

I took it on my IPad. I always take it out with me if we go somewhere nice as Colin can't see too well as his head is bent forward. I take the picture and show him what I am seeing.

Because I can't get J put anymore I do the same thing Bev , show his photos or pictures on my lap top . he always was a huge rugby fan but he finds it very difficult to follow now and cannot stand the sound of the commentators and noise of the crowd .

I don't know what happened last night he was managing to raise his head enough and follow ALL of the match , in top if that Wales won .. maybe he was the lucky mascot .

I had even intended to put him into bed and keep it at the highest point so that he had a more chance of seeking the TV .

sO keep posting all the lovely photos and talk about the places you have been to . AI a, not envious , not my style but it does help to keep me smiling .

Visited Knowle Park yesterday and Bexhill on Sea today , making the best of the autumn sunshine. Not good at being trapped indoors. Scotney Castle is stunning just imagine having that view all to yourself. Went to Sissinghurst in June but the crowds and narrow paths made it difficult to look around comfortably.

I've just looked at my "people near you list" but couldn't find you. You must be somewhere near T/Wells. We may bump into you one day. I promised Colin I'd take him to Bexhill as soon as his sore heals. He loves it there but I didn't want him sitting for too long. It was at Sissinghurst I managed to get stuck with the electric wheelchair, coming off the edge of a narrow path but am a better driver now and have been back several times since. Yesterday I got talking to a woman with her husband in an electric wheelchair. I thought he may have PSP but he has had a rare form of motor neurone for 10 years. He let Colin try his keyboard which he used to speak but C couldn't keep his eyes open long enough to use it. I didn't think he could as I borrowed one earlier with no success.

Enjoy your sunny Sunday.

Just back from a lovely day at Bexhill with our dear friends. Coffee and scones for elevenses, stroll along the front and then to the pub near Normans Bay for a couple of drinks in the sunshine overlooking the sparkling sea, perfect. Felt we belonged to the human race for the first time in a while.

So pleased you had a lovely day. Long may this beautiful Autumn sunshine continue. The moon is bright tonight. So far it's clear for the eclipse, not sure if I'll see it though. Depends on if I have to get up. I'm not setting my alarm for it. Sleep is too precious.
