Thank you

My message is simple, I just want to say a heart-felt 'thank you' to people here on this forum.

My fantastic Dad, Jim, passed away last Sunday from PSP after contracting a chest infection and high temperature which was in fact pneumonia . He died at home, where, with a great deal of support, we were able to care for him until the end, one of his express wishes.

PSP took almost everything from him, leaving him only hearing and seeing. He was doubly incontinent, not able to feed himself, speak, swallow properly or load bare at all.

It is a very cruel illness and this forum was so very helpful to me. As well as offering practical advice from people in the same position, you guys gave me strength in the dark and long nights. Just to know that we were not alone, that there were no perfect answer for every question and that others were coping, in turn gave us the strength to carry on.

We will be raising money for the PSPA in memory of my Dad who never once complained although the frustration and loss of dignity must have been horrendous for such a proud and active man.

It was privilege to help him at the end and I will miss him hugely but it was partly everyone on this forum that helped to make his final wish achievable. Thank you all and stay strong. xxx

PS. If I can help with any practical questions from my experiences, please just ask.

I'm so sorry your dad has left you but he will always be in your thoughts. Now he is at peace I hope the good memories before PSP start to outnumber the sad memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

Really sorry to hear that your father as passed away, but equally glad that he is finally free from this evil disease.

It's hard to lose a Dad at any time, from whatever cause, make sure you carry on taking one day at a time, grieve at your own pace, not others. This is the final hurdle that PSP can throw at you. You will survive, like you have managed the others!

Sending you lots of love and hugs.

Lots of love

Your father sounds very much like my mother. How people with this illness manage to carry on and smile without moaning gives us all so much strength! God bless your father and family!

Thinking of you at this very sad time.

Try to think of all the great times you had before PSP.

May your dad rest in eternal peace
