Procerus revisited

There is much already published on the medical websites about the facial expressions in psp. Some call it a "worried look" others say "astonished, grimmising, angry". Some have commented about the look "of someone who has just tasted something bad" There are articles written about the wrinkling forehead and the procerus muscles. This is very common in psp and is noteworthy. Doctors who have seen many many psp patients have noticed this unusual appearance. I want to give my theory on why it happens.

My theory is twofold.. (I have given this a great deal of thought)

-One reason of this wrinkling forehead/eyes look is to limit the amount of light coming into the eyes/brain

-The second reason is to try and keep the eyes open when they are drooping and wanting to close.

I know this because it happens to me every day.

I agree with the "limit the amount of light" point. my wife cannot cope with bright light and makes exactly this expression.

and my eyes are subject to light as well but I can open them when I say to myself cmon reg get them open

hi sha sha there I found I again does this make you happy mate a change is as good as a rest so they say anybody out there that want to change there psp mates I would like to get rid of mine I will let it go to a good home with love and care no money involved just a straight swap I am still breathing and upright and at the moment i have all my faculties but thats debateable amongst some of you I would think but I cant help that anyway have a great \day everyone and take care from sha sha and me peter jones queensland Australia psp sufferer im the one on the left of the photo that has the psp by the way the other one is my wife and carer and soulmate

Just want to add this excerpt from Swiss Medical Journals, ""In addition to the oculomotor abnormalities, in PSP contracture of frontalis muscles with upraised eyebrows, conveying the characteristic stare, as well as eyelid disorders such as blepharospasms and eyelid apraxia, are fairly common. Furthermore, while glabellar sign (inability to suppress the blink on frontal finger tap) is generally seen in parkinsonism, its visual variant (elicited by bright light), along with photophobia, is more common in PSP."
