Hi All, Hey has anyone had experience with protective helmets? Our physical therapist just recommended we request a RX for one from the neurologist after his umpteeth head injury from a fall.

Hi Goldcap, how are you?

S has never been offered a helmet. We went out and bought a rugby scull cap for him to wear out in the garden. Works reasonably well, apart from the gaps on the cap, ALWAYS seem to line up with the sharpest rock he can find!!! But it does seem to stop large bumps occurring, black eyes and grazing that he was getting! S is on Warfarin, so we do have to be careful! I know it won't stop a serious injury, but it does relive a bit of stress of having him wandering around the garden!!! I would recommend it!

Lots of love

Don't know about a source. However, I read one post where the caregiver wore a helmet of some sort so that they could get the patient to wear theirs. Might work if the patient is reluctant. Jimbo
