He had pneumonia that was not responding to antibiotics and made the brave decision that he'd had enough. He lasted five days with no input other than Morphine, Medazolam and Glycopyrolate. He slipped away quickly and quietly with loved ones all around him. We are heartbroken but also relieved that his struggle is over after almost eight years. I wish you all well and thank you for all the information and feedback I received. Keep up the fight and find that cure. Best wishes, Cassie. Xxx

Oh Cassie, I am so sorry for the heartache you and your family are experiencing at this time. He was a brave and loving man to make the decision he did and you (his loved ones) for respecting and following through on his wishes. I know it was not an easy decision for any on you and I have such tremendous admiration and respect for all of you. Remember him in the good times you all shared. Spend time going over family pictures with each other and sharing memories of him. Take care, be kind to yourself, XO JG
Cassie, Sorry for your loss. Your Richard knew he wanted the end to come. Nothing wrong with that. He is resting in peace now. Your caregiver days are NOT over. Now it's time to turn your caregiving inward to yourself. Please stay on this site and help others who are still in the struggle. Hugs to you and the family. Jimbo
