RE TURMERIC AND CO Q10
Hi Shahsha, The original 6-week German study of Coq10 and psp had some positive results at 5 mgs per kilogram of body weight, I believe. Our neurologist supported my guy taking 1200 to 1800 mgs per day. She says doses up to 2400 have been taken without negative side effects. We hope to learn more from the recent longer study on Monday, and will be sure to post whatever we hear. Best, Easterncedar
Thanks so much ti you eastern cedar i knew some one would have the answer - and thankyiu fir keeping me up to date from monday
Was going to call our neurologist and since I have been sick didn't yet. Will definitely call her ASAP.
Thanks Audrey
thanks so much christina - the link is very useful too
Hi Shasha,
My father was diagnosed with PSP 6 years ago. He took 2000 mg. caps. Q10 but that did not stop the progression of the disease. Since last year he is taking the liquid form of Q10 with good results . The dosis of the Marburg University study (in which he participated) is 80 drops per day. We buy the product from: suplea.eu
Best regards
Vincent
Hi Shasha. Unfortunately it is quiete expensive but worthwile. I get 10% discount free transport within Europe. One 100 ml. bottle lasts for 2 weeks. I put the Sanomit drops in Greek yoghurt for breakfast. Kind regards. Vincent
just lost my reply to you
;;]lol JIill
ho shasha
yes i have been taking the coq10 for about 3 months now ( a small dose of 100 per day) and at 1st i was falling over less but now it depends on how stressed i am {and turmeric too as it is a lot cheaper}
i am using a manual wheelchair for outdoors which stops me falling over when out but i am still v headstrong and unpredictable and i know a split second b4 i fall over\
,loll jill
My husband has been taking 200mg of Ubiquinol (purported to have better bio-availability) and 300mg of Ubidecarenone. Lahey Clinic may have its clinical trial results of CoQ10 in August. At that point I will reevaluate what he gets. As for Turmeric, he gets 500mg (AM and PM) of Longvida Curcumin, again for better bio-availability. I look forward to Easterncedar's German CoQ10 study. So much of this seems to be a crap shoot.
The neurologist my guy sees was the lead researcher for that CoQ10 trial at Lahey. Final results may have some tweaks, but she said the study did not provide any evidence that CoQ10 provides a benefit. She *feels* it helps, even if at a level below that which would prove a statistically significant benefit, so he's still taking it, although less than before. Yep, crap shoot.
I suggest researching the benefits of taking COQ10 alongside glutathione, vitamin c and alpha lipoic acid. They work together synergistically and the alpha lipoic acid recycles any free radicals left over from the other anti oxidants. Alpha lipoic acid can also cross the blood brain barrier.
Peace
