Today is the third trip that I have had to take to an urgent care facility since surgery in May. This time, it was after a few days of headaches, muscle ache, and fatigue. This time I also have splotches on my skin. I have been on antibiotics each time. I get better then, BOOM, something else hits me. I will see the surgeon on Tuesday (for the first 3 1/2 month visit), but I will have to see my GP tomorrow if I can get an appointment. This has been really hard to figure out. I eat right (lots of vegetables and fruits, etc), I exercise, I try to get enough sleep. Etc. Etc. Etc. This is really frustrating. It’s two steps forward and one step backward. As I facetiously told my Dr before the surgery, the cure sounds worse than the disease.

Third trip to urgent care
Hello ELPjr
It’s difficult to find the words to encourage someone on your specific journey, unless we’ve been there. Yet, we are all living our own journey and and stories to tell. The one thing we have in common is our battle with PC. The approach and specific therapies, surgery or no surgery may be different, but the heartache and fear is similar. That’s what’s great about this site. We know that we are not alone. You are not alone! This site provides stories of tears, heartache and pain. But most importantly, stories of survival and victory over this bitch! I believe, one day this will be behind you and you will find yourself identifying and sharing you story with someone else! Continue to eat well, exercise and get adequate rest! Two steps forward and one step back as frustrating as it may seem, is better than one step forward and two steps back! Keep taking the two steps forward until it becomes three steps forward and no steps back! That day is coming!
Thanks. I just came from the emergency room. It’s Lyme disease. No urinary track problem, so it’s not related to the surgery. But, this has been a terrible summer. Hoping to end this cycle of urgent care visits . Thanks for your encouragement.
good for no problem with the PC but Lyme disease is nothing to ignore - follow up with your PC for sure
it's always something !!! grrrrrrrr
good luck and hang in there
Hi ELP, My partner had Lyme disease, as did one of my staff members, and if caught early enough, a round of antibiotics is usually very effective and will eliminate the problem. Hopefully you've been diagnosed quickly enough and will make a speedy recovery. You might need a round of intravenous antibiotics just so you're monitored for a few days, but then hope all will go back to normal. Stay strong and positive.
ELP: I believe that you are correct in saying that the treatment is worse than the disease. Because I believe that is true I deferred treatment for the past 16 1/2 years. I have been on a minimal ADT regimen of bicalutamide (Casodex) monotherapy for 4 months. DX sept 2002.
