Looking for options on rectal bleeding. I have had 3 procedures to try an stop bleeding after CyberKnife treatment for 3 years. I am on warfarin due to a heart valve replacement which make the bleeding worse.. CyberKnife damaged my colon around the prostate location. Any help to resolve issue would be appreciated. Thanks.

You didn't tell us what type of treatments you have had to slow down the bleeding.  As you do know taking the warfarin is not helping the bleeding issues you are experiencing.

I have had 3 treatments of formaldehyde to help shrink the blood vessels.  This helped some but still bleeding.  I have to take warfarin because I have mechanical heart valve.    I wish didn't have to take it but have no choice.  Thanks. Ron

Ron,

Initial treatment usually involves the use of a combination of sucralfate , steroids, and pain control have been successful in most cases to improve symptoms of chronic proctitis. In more severe cases, especially with bleeding, chemical (formalin) or thermal (endoscopic coagulation) treatments have been successful.

Ask your doctor about thermal coagulation where they basically cauterize the tissue to stop the bleeding.

Surgery is the usual last attempt, but given the heart valve this probably isn't a viable option for you.

Thanks for info Joel.  I have to treatment of formalin and they helped.  I want to try hyperbaric treatment and if that doesn't work thermal coagulation will be my next step.  Its just hard living a normal life with this bleeding.  Thanks.  Ron

I had considerable benefit, in terms of reduced bleeding and normalisation of bowel function, from hyperbaric treatment.

Thanks for info.  I was thinking checking out this treatment.  If I exercise or work in the Garden I start bleeding.  How long does the treatment last?  Thanks.

I, too, gained real benefit from a course of hyperbaric treatment. Less urgency and bleeding stopped. Benefits were long lasting too.
