I'd like to know if anyone has undergone treatment using the Cyberknife System?

I had SBRT, but it used a different linac. What's your question?

What were the side effects? How long did they last? Any permanent side effects?

Side effects started about 10 days after my last treatment and lasted for about 2 weeks. I had increased frequency (getting up about 3 x per night to pee). I didn't know about tenesmus then and strained too hard, aggravating my hemorrhoids and causing some spotting on the toilet paper. Only sexual side effect was the loss of semen. I had a flare up of urinary symptoms after a year, but it was transient. Since then, no side effects. Occasionally there's a drop of blood after orgasm when some scar tissue sloughs off. Here's a description of what one can expect;

Hi Alan - can you please confirm where you had this done as it does not seem to be available on the NHS - or were you part of the trial?

If you had it privately can you give me an estimate on the cost?

What has your psa dropped to post treatment?

Thanks Antony

Hi Your question popped up in my email just today, so if this is late, I'm sorry about that. In any case I did use CyberKnife via NYUWinthrop hospital in NYC. For the moment, I have had a little more pee frequency, but not significant.

The treatment itself requires going on a stringent diet, but it's not difficult to follow, and in general most people including myself have just 5 treatments.

It was painless, they had a great support team and it is fast.

Now to be seen will be how effective it will be in the months ahead once follow up testing begins. Assume that the treatment has worked, I consider it a great blessing and I'd highly recommend it at this point in time. Wishing you great success in whatever treatment path you may follow.

Thank you for the response. I have looked into my options and have opted for surgery. I am scheduled for tomorrow.

I fist meet with my doctor at NYU/Winthrop on Monday. My urologist agrees with me that this is a course to follow. I am hopeful that the process can begin and that there is nothing in my stats that would change the course.

This site is great because of men like you sharing your experiences.
