Hi all! New here. Just began 4 to 8 months of Lupron prior to radiation. One shot so far … next shot due mid-March. Insurance just approved Orgovyx for my situation. Looking for advice about the advantages of one over the other. Thanks in advance.

Orgovyx vs Lupron
Orgovyx lowers T quickly, and T comes back quickly after taking it. But it only has a 24 hr half-life, which means that if you miss a dose, you lose its benefit. Some find the multi-month Lupron shot more convenient.
Insurance coverage for Orgovyx is key. A commercial or self paying 30 day prescription supply cost me $3100 three months ago. Insurance then kicked in after a month and I am paying approx. $575 for same 30 Day supply.
I assume since Lupron is a shot or procedure, not a drug that has been around longer, it would be covered by Insurance (not a drug plan) would be much less expensive possibly???
I took lupron for a year. Dont underestimate what a drag it is to wait for your T to come back. It’s still early for me (6 weeks) but no recovery yet.
If I were to do it again I would take Orgovyx.
