Long term HDRBrachyboost side effects testimonials.

I’m leaning heavily to HDR Brachyboost + ADT. (Due to high decipher score). (4+3, T1c)

I’ve seen too many charts and stats on long term side effects of Brachyboost. I’m 58 and need to think way down the line. The data of old is not accounting for the more accurate delivery of the HDR and the boost of today.

Id like to find testimonials of patients 10-20 years out on their experience with long term lack of pliancy in the bowels (from the beam RT), constant bladder urgency due to micro-vascular bladder stiffening , general urethral bother/pain, and nocturia.

I’m also curious of the extent of erection loss over time. I can deal with using meds, but I don’t want to get to a place of complete flaccidity. Right now I have absolutely no erection problems.

I suppose the people who sailed through symptomless over the decades are not perusing these boards which makes it hard.

Does anyone know where I can find these testimonials?

Bonus question. Since HDR brachy alone can treat the bed as well as the prostate, has anyone ever had surgery to remove the lymph nodes to avoid the beam toxicity to rectum and urethra?

I believe the modern beam systems are pretty good at limiting collateral damage. The trouble with seeking out guys who had it done 15 years ago is that they did not have what we have today.

I got 79 gy in total to my prostate and lymph nodes and so far I feel fine. Only side effect is some burning while peeing but that should dissipate within a few months I believe.

Good to hear. Looks like you had External Beam only?

I agree that long ago the treatments were very different than now.I had External RT, 25 sessions, then two HDR in the first three months of 2016.

Because of local spread, G9, no protection for rectum during RT.

Literally no issues other than after HDR the catheter plugged up four hours later requiring me to remove it.

Still to this day no SE from all that radiation.

Glad to hear it’s possible to be symptom free. Thanks for sharing.
