Last Day of Radiation

Wow, I didn’t think this day would come. On March 7, one year ago I went through radical prostate surgery thinking this would take care of my cancer. It did not, and after a lot of back and forth between Hospitals and insurance I finally started radiation therapy after watching my PSA climb from .29 to .55 within six months after surgery. Now after 36 radiation treatments and two eligard (ADT) shots I am at PSA .03. The ladder I believe is my new baseline. I am still having flank pain, which the doctors believe is more kidney related than prostate. Cancer. However, I will go on.

Congratulations.. amazing how radiation becomes a job. Monday to Friday fill up, clean out at home. Drink just the right amount of water to proceed when you get there. I did 38 sessions. As I made it to 20 I was complemented by the techs that they never had to stop procedure to have me "fill up or empty". Made it all 38. Felt like I needed a vacation after!!
