@+Burnett1948. I had a Sling inserted 2013. I wear the smallest of pads: one per day. My surgeon told me because I had radiation as well he couldn't guarantee it 100%. I had two small pre-surgeries prior to the installation of the Sling. Because of narrowing I have had to self catheterise every two or three days-which is easy. Would I do it again? you bet I would because I was using a couple of medium sized pads a day before the operation.

Age 70 eight months out from prostatectomy doing three sets of kegels a day and still using three large pads a day. Not that difficult -- especially compared to having cancer -- but wondering what's next.

I think you're talking about ED, not incontinence, right?

Not there yet -- hopefully not ever -- but the implant sounds a whole lot more attractive than sticking yourself with a needle. Booklet my urologist gave me is full of rave reviews from men and their partners.

Are there any DISADVANTAGES to a penile implant?

Because of your question today's post on the Advanced Prostate Cancer Blog is about the different implant designs - "Penile Implants – The Options, The Pros and the Cons of the Different Designs" at:

You Da Man! After six + years on ADT, you get the feeling of being neutered. If I could get a hard on, there's still no feeling. And, I'm only 57.

So, I say, go man, go.

This issue is such a stickey wicket. It all comes down to personal preferences and desires. Obviously no one would prefer to have cancer yet retain the ability of an erection. Such a Hobson's choice. Especially if you are in your fifties like me. I have pumped, vibrated, stuck a needle where no sharp object should ever go, and tried the little blue pill. Out of all of these, only pumping got the head of the prick involved. IMHO, no head engorgement, game over. I too have looked deeply into the the whole robopricks on offer. I came very close to actually having it done. what stopped me was the realization of what has been irretrievably lost... spontaneity and effortlessness. It used to be so easy. In fact he used to raise his head at the most inopportune times. Some folks would tell me I suffer from low T. That may be true, but I refuse to do anything about it. I have had it with pills and their side effects. The less pills I have to take the better I feel. So, no roboprick for me.

Not what you're looking for?
