Hi Neska,

this doesn't relate to the position of your placenta, it probably just means baby is. Head down, which is good, though not always a guarantee early on.

My baby's heartbeat has always been found around or below my tummy button, but he was breech until this week, im 33 wks. The scans you have should track where your placenta is.

last time I was with he mid-wife my baby was having a stroll, and poor mid-wife was finding it really difficult to stick to one area to record the heart beats :) she has to move and chase my baby all the way, so it normally has nothing to do with the placenta placement !

I'm not sure why, but i've found that a simular case with boy babies "whilst in the womb" the midwife can "sometimes" find it difficult to find/get the heart beat straight away.

My son was the same & thank-fully the placenta was kinda high up until the last week or so of pregnancy.

Sorry i think it's just a boy thing! LOL.

Thank you for your replies ladies.i'm 19weeks so due for a scan after Easter.my gp said i could have low lying placenta because of the bleedings i had.but its not certain so scan will detect it.i'm not really worried yet as long as baby is ok.whenenever i listen to his/her hb its always on the left side lol and very low.but little kicks reassure me he/she is comfy there xx just cant wait till i'm at least 30weeks...still long way to go xx

I generally find my baby low on the left! I'm 18+ 3 and 1st found hb at 10 wks, getting harder to find as she's now moving around so much! She kicked and swam off when I was checking earlier ha ha. I'm pretty sure my placenta is more to the right. If u have your own doppler u can hear it , it's like a whooshing sound at the rate of your hb, if you go on YouTube and look for demos on finding baby's hb most of the 1st I found took u through what the different sounds are in there. Btw don't know if it's a she but pretty convinced as so different to the pregnancy with my son! Will find out a week fri : ) also if I remember correctly when the midwife used to check my son even at late pregnancy it was always around or below belly button!

It will fly by Neska, 30 weeks will be here before you know it. I had my 20wk scan on Christmas Eve and it only feels like a few weeks ago not 3 months!

Good luck with everything, and great that you are in the system to be monitored.
