I’ve got myself into a bit of a mess. I suffer from anxiety and take tablets for this so I am trying my best.
Just wondering if anyone had anything similar ?
At 18 weeks + 3 I received a letter for my anomaly scan. The man doing the scan said “why they send you so early..” 🤷♀️. I mean he was nice enough throughout. I’d been for a scan at 12 weeks and all seemed fine.
However, on this occasion half hour in baby was all checked over and he said all ok. So I was reassured.
At the time I know it was still fairly early, but as I was there, I asked him when I would feel my baby movements ? He said, you should around now...but I hadn’t.. he then asked me to empty my bladder and on return, checked my placenta.
He said I had an anterior placenta which from what I understand acts like a cushion in front of tummy due to the way placenta is positioned and apparently that’s common.
But on my report he’s put Anterior Placenta - ‘Low lying’ . Scan at 32 weeks per protocol ( as you can see you from the picture ) well as soon as I went home I started googling and I know I shouldn’t with my anxiety but from then until now I’ve not been able to relax about it and can’t enjoy my pregnancy. I was doing so well. 😖 sorry for the long essay I just get so worked up.

I have an anterior placenta too and at my anomaly scan it was low lying. I already had to go for extra scans anyway as my womb was heart shaped but by 28 weeks the placenta had moved up and wasn’t an issue anymore.
If it doesn’t move and it covers your cervix that’s a condition called placenta praevia. I think then most likely you would be recommended to have a c-section. The doctor will talk to you about all the options and risks at that point.
I didn’t feel any movements until 20 weeks but some women with an anterior placenta won’t feel any movements until 24 weeks. I felt them first in bed when I was cuddling into my pregnancy pillow.
Try not to worry too much (I know how hard this can be) and focus on the face you get to see your baby again at 32 weeks which a lot of woman don’t get.
I had a low lying placenta with this pregnancy (no. 3). At 32 weeks it has moved up. I had to have an Internal scan which wasn't mentioned before until the day.
Very common most placentas go up. As for the movements 18 weeks is early, lots of people don't feel movements by thenn. I've always felt movements 20week+ and even then it was little flutters etc.
Dont worry hun. In 90% of women the placenta moves up naturally. That's why they will scan u at 32 weeks. A low lying placenta means its touching or blocking the cervixs. If it doesnt move naturally they will offer you a c - section. I have a low lying placenta too. My 36 week scan is on 17th of sep to see if placenta moved by itself. If it didn't it would mean c section for me too. It doesnt impact baby whatsoever. Try not to worry.
I had that at the anomoly scan too, im now 29 weeks. Midwife isn’t at all worried, just said it will probably move up and lucky I get to see bubs again at an extra scan.
I read that that’s another reason it’s good to sleep on your side, helps it to move along up as it’s meant to.
Try not to worry.... try to only worry about things you can make a difference to xx
