I wanted to share my experience is the event it helps someone else identify what might be going on with them too. Background: I have an almost 2 year old healthy son and my previous experience pregnant included really bad morning sickness and all the other normal symptoms of pregnancy. I did gain weight quickly and the doctors feared gestational diabetes, but after a number of tests I passed all and had no issues until labor/delivery when I ended up in emergency csection because the baby's head was stuck and he flipped in a bad position. Everything ended up going smoothly and I have my healthy child... pregnancy #2 on the other hand... I was never nauseated and vomiting like the first and I began a light spotting right around the start of week 6....
1 day before I was 6 weeks pregnant I woke up that morning to red spotting that was very light. I went to the ER immediately as I feared the worse having never had any kind of bleeding with my first child. They draw blood, do physical exam and internal ultrasound... everything is good they tell me and I even see the heart flutter on the monitor. I'm told to take it easy and just relax, but come back in if it get worse. The next 5 days I have brownish and light spotting until I suddenly felt a little wet. I check and a strange dark brown stringy mucus discharge is coming out. I decided to go back to ER. They take a finger prick of blood for test and perform another physical examination and ultrasound. Again, I am reassured everything is fine, but it is noted that while the baby grew in the 5 days the doctor did think that the baby was measuring too small for the week. I mentioned to them my cousin bleeding during pregnancy and be prescribed progesterone which stopped her bleeding. The doctor agreed it might be worth while to prescribe and I begin that evening taking the medication. Before bed that day the bleeding suddenly stopped and by the next morning I was not bleeding... until about the afternoon... I started a slow red flow. I continued to take the progesterone and lay down and rest as much as possible. By the following day I could not lay down as I had things to do and doctor appointment for my son, but I by no means was over exerting myself. The red flow continues and by the afternoon I noticed I had some type of matter in my underwear. I was convinced I had a miscarriage, so I saved and bagged the mass and headed to the ER. They did no lab work this time and looked at what I brought in and confirmed my thoughts. An exam and ultrasound are performed and she noted blood coming from uterus and seeing still some blood clots inside of me, but no more baby.
*I added only 1 image as that is all I am able to, but I had documented everything. The point is I had no other sign of miscarriage, no cramps/pain, fever etc. I was told it could be a number of reasons I was bleeding in early pregnancy. I even thought maybe I had just passed a blood clot, but the image is of what a miscarriage at week 6 (almost 7) looks like.
