Try not to panic it may take a few weeks before you get an appointment, i know exactly how you feel i went through exactly the same situation as you and i now have a happy healthy 16 week old baby girl, it is really hard not to worrie but try not to panic as you end up driveing yourself mad. X
Hi there, congratulations on your pregnancy! I did my self-referral when I was 5 weeks pregnant and got an appointment at 8 weeks of pregnancy. I think you will get an appointment in two weeks time! Then, given your history, I would suggest that you also see your OBGYN and see if you can be prescribed some extra progesterone pessaries and an anti-coagulant. I am very certain that you could get them, and on the top of this, if you could have intralipid infusions every month until your 20th weeks of pregnancy, that would help. Both the progesterone and intralipids are known to keep the baby in the womb and to foster its growth. This is what I was given. Hope this helps, let us know how it goes. Good luck with the appointment with your midwife.
Are you based in the UK? This doesn't sound like the care pathway that we'd follow here. We wouldn't see an OBGYN in pregnancy unless we had been referred to one by our midwife and wouldn't be prescribed anything after a miscarriage unless we'd had multiple miscarriages or we had fertility treatment to get pregnant?
I am based in the UK, and had fertility treatment. And yet, many women I know who did not go through IVF had progesterone and anti-coagulant prescribed for them to sustain their pregnancy.
Hi I didn't mean IVF necessarily, I just meant fertility treatment in general. Normally the NHS don't provide you with anything extra unless you can't get pregnant and have been trying for over a year or have had repeated miscarriages, which they class as over 3. I've never heard of anyone getting additional assistance or prescribed medication after one miscarriage so it just sounded strange information. I've had a miscarriage myself and apart from seeing my midwife when I got pregnant never saw anyone else except my diabetes team and no medicine was offered or advised based on my miscarriage. Maybe it's just down to different trusts and what they offer?
It took a week after I self-referred for the hospital to call and advise when my first appointment was (they set it for half way between week 8/9). Can you call the maternity line at the hospital you registered with and have a chat with them? Might be a good idea just to go over the things you're worried about in the mean time. I also ended up booking a private ultrasound at week 8, and having a chat with the sonographer/nurse there, which was really reassuring (since the first NHS one wasn't till week 13).
