Hi all! I’m 2 weeks into potty training my 2 and half year old boy.
He will stay dry all day if we put him on the potty regularly. However he still hasn’t told us when he needs to go potty.
I keep him in pull ups when out and about and put pants on him in the house. Not sure if the pull ups are confusing him. However I really don’t think he could go without them because he still isn’t telling us when he needs to go when we are in the house. When he has accidents he usually can finish them off on the potty(if I catch him in time).
I am not sure if I should keep going when he isn’t telling me when he needs to go or should I give him a break and try in another few weeks.

Good morning, have you tried the reward chart system? For example explain if he tells you when he nerds to go pee pee he will be rewarded, it can be 5 minutes extra cartoon time, or 5 mins extra in the bath anything the he enjoys doing will work, at the end of the week he can choose his big reward, I would have a small car, colour book and pencil crayons, just small things but big for the child. I did try the pull ups but it really did confuse my child so I just used pants but I would allow them to choose the pants they wanted, usually their favourite characters the time or their favourite colour at that time. I found by allowing them the choice it helped as they didn't want their pants to get wet. Even outside I would never use the pull ups only pants, my only exception to the rule was long car journeys as we live in London but we used to travel regularly to Yorkshire. Good luck and don't give up keep going, you can both do this. 😀
