Has anyone had any experience with Polyhydramnios?
Hi,
I had a scan 38 weeks +3 days on Friday and was told I now have extra fluid (Polyhydramnios) my last scan two weeks before was all fine. I am worried as my consultant said there is a chance when my waters break the cord could become prolapsed. Also when baby is born she will have to have a tube inserted to look for any problems with her oesophagus as there maybe a gap. 🙁 I have another scan to check the fluid levels on the 18th, the day before my due date.
I am worrying about it all.

Hi, I did experience polyhydramios in my pregnancy. I was really worried for my baby who is now 2 months old and was also feeling my belly really tense. My doctor told me not to wait and go to hospital if my waters broke at home. After 2 scans I was finally offered an induction as I was also worried with my baby movements. Everything ended up well and I now I’ve got a healthy little boy! My advise would be try not to worry too much about it, I know it is not easy to do but try not to and take it easy in your last weeks of pregnancy as it doesn’t mean something ls wrong.
Hey! Try not to worry! I had poly pretty much my whole pregnancy. One consultant said to me about the rice but it turned out it was outdated practice and only required if there were other problems. They might want to check you for diabetes add that’s a common cause of poly but please don’t worry. It was also be caused by baby laying in a funny way making a pool look bigger than usual!! I had a section in the end but my little girl is super healthy nearly a year old now. Good luck with the birth and please don’t worry xxx
