Post C-Section Recovery

I had an emergency c-section just under 3 weeks ago and initially I felt great but the past week I’ve felt very sore/bruised, along with my arms from breast feeding. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and if it could be the weight of holding my baby when breastfeeding that is making me more sore and uncomfortable?

I have been checked by midwife and GP and they just said it’s easily days but I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced anything similar?

I didn't have a c section, but breastfeeding and holding baby a lot made my back ache loads, have you got a nursing pillow? They can be really helpful to allow you to get a bit more comfy.

I had my baby seven days ago by elective section. I experienced arm paining and soreness the next day post surgery and when I mentioned to the doctor he said it could be muscular skeleton pain. But it has gotten better now. But as Seb9 mentioned the nursing pillow does help to take the baby’s weight off x

Unfortunately you will probably feel bruised and beaten up for awhile. I had an emergency csection with my first. It was a rather traumatic birth experience and it took along while to feel half normal again. With my second I opted for an elective csection and my recovery was better but still took time. Even once your body has done most of the recovery you may occasionally get little pains from your scar. I had a little niggle the other day and my second is now 20 months old. It takes you a long time to recover fully from a C-section and you will have days where you feel good and others where you ache everywhere! The aches from your arms are probably from supporting little one while they feed so a support pillow is a good investment. You are suddenly having to use muscles you didn't know you had!

I had an emergency c section, and had a hematoma complications. For a long time I thought the hematoma was causing me pain but only 8 months later I realised that the c section scar was giving me pain. When I used to walk too much like max 30 min or carry my son for too long trying to comfort him my scar would be very very painful, where I couldn't move properly anymore. It would last from hours to the rest of the day/next morning. To be honest it took 5 months to get "better" and like someone else mentioned I still get a weird pinch there now and then. I recommend wear very loose clothing for the first 3-6 months. Just to give you context I was an 8 before pregnancy and wore size 16 underwear /pants after /maternity clothing. And now I buy size 10 just to give my scar space. If I wear too tight jeans for too long my scar tissue starts hurting again.I forgot about my arms aching but after reading you say it I remember feeling like I had been beaten up for a good few weeks. Make sure you have pillows around the house that you can slide under your arm /on your belly to support you with breastfeeding. It gets easier. Don't overdo it when you start feeling better. I stupidly started doing stretching exercises at week 4 and set back my recovery by at least 3 months. Just give yourself a break c section is a major surgery. Imagine anyone going for stomach operation and then telling them oh yea now go exercise every day, don't sleep, look after this tiny thing and oh yea get on with all your housework while you're at it.
