Haemorrhoid woes at 26wks

Hi ladies,

I wonder if anyone has found a solution to this horrid pregnancy symptom?

I’ve had them for over a week now and they are extremely painful because thrombosed 😭 , can’t really sleep or even sit up straight because of the pain. Paracetamol is not touching it.

My doctor has been less than helpful and literally said ‘oh there’s not much that I can give you because you are pregnant, they’ll just go away on their own’, I get that I can’t safely take anti inflammatory drugs at this stage in pregnancy, but there must be a solution other than waiting it out.

I’ve tried Anusol, Witch Hazel and even garlic! to no avail.

Anyone had similar painful experience at this stage in pregnancy, and what did you do to relive the strain?

Any suggestions gratefully welcomed xx

Are you not taking something to loosen your bowels? You really need to be ina laxative if you want things to heal. It does take time, there nothing which is going to be a miracle cure but if if you're still straining they are not going to improve so basically you need to be on the loose side. You can ask your pharmacist which preparations can be used by pregnant women.

Good luck!

Thanks, I’m now taking a regular laxative that seems to be helping the situation. Not nice, but better than the excruciating alternative 👍🏻

Dried apricots might loosen your stools but have you shown them to the doctor? I had a haemorrhoid once that got infected and I needed antibiotics to clear the infection. I've had them since and they've never been THAT painful again. It sounds like yours might be infected?.. also, if it's not too big/ painful to manage, using a clean finger to pop it back inside can prevent it rubbing when you walk and offer some relief. Best of luck x

Thanks for your reply. It’s better now I’m managing my fibre and taking a mild laxative, sorry to hear that you’ve been through it too. It’s absolutely horrible. Hopefully sorted now 🤞🏻
