10 weeks and suddenly vomiting - and can’t face taking metformin

I’ve just joined this group after getting pregnant from ivf... at last!

On Tuesday I suddenly started feeling really sick after lunch and then vomited all evening and night. I wasn’t able to keep any water down. I assumed it was food poisoning or sickness bug because it seems so late for morning sickness to set in, but midwife thinks it could be a sudden change in hormones. Has anyone else had morning sickness come at 10 weeks?

Also I’m in metformin for pcos but just can’t face taking it until I’m better - is that ok? I am able to eat and drink a small amount now but think my tummy is still too empty for tablets.

Any advice or reassurance very welcome!

Thanks.

Hiya sorry I don’t have any advice but like you I had IVF and on metformin. My clinic said to stay on it for the whole pregnancy but my midwife and a gynaecologist wasn’t happy with this but I have refused to stop. What advice were you given? Hope you start feeling better soon xx

My clinic and gp have said I’ll be on it until 12 weeks. I’m in 1000mg a day. My midwife has said it’s down to my gp ultimately. I think it’s prety stndard to stop at 12 weeks but your gp should know what’s right for you?

I’ve never even mentioned it to the GP as my fertility clinic said to carry on the whole way through to reduce chance of miscarriage. Just my midwife was really funny about it and the gynaecologist at my normal hospital was just arrogant saying it has no benefits or risks so I’m doing what my fertility clinic said. Just interesting to see what other people have been told xx

Inositol is chemically very similar to metformin but is a natural supplement with no side effects, also completely safe in pregnancy. There’s lots of scientific studies showing both these things, look it up on google. Our dd is taking it and just had her 12 week dating scan and everything is perfect xx

I was feeling so sick from week 8-16. Basically could not face food at all. Everything made me feel sick- most days I just spent in my pj's and bed... sooner or later it will pass. Good luck!x

Congratulations :) and morning sickness can happen at any point of the day. But does sound more like a bug than anything, and is always hard to start eating again after being so ill. My mum always tells me to eat nearly burnt toast to try and line your stomach. Or if it's morning sickness, I eat a ginger biscuit slowly and it usually helps ease it.
