Just wondering if anyone is or has been in a similar boat to me. I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant with my first pregnancy. My morning sickness started just before week 6 and has been pretty bad so far. I have all day nausea and severe hunger 24/7 I maybe get relief for an hour at a time after I’ve eaten but the last few days the nausea has really floored me. I have my first booking appointment next week with the midwife and I’m going to ask about medication options. I’ve actually not been sick just constant nausea and I’m wondering if they’ll still consider prescribing me if I only have nausea. I mean it’s so severe I’ve been in bed the last 4 days and have been waking up in the night and still feeling sick.

its pretty normal, I’ve had it both pregnancies and I would defo consider meds with the midwife. The one thing I would say that does help is actually just letting yourself be sick. I didn’t first pregnancy as I didn’t want to actually throw up but this time just let it happen and it gave me longer periods of feeling a little better band able to eat (little and often) I also found ice lollies (even in winter) helped me feel a bit better. I know it’s hard but getting up and out in the fresh air also helped, even if just sitting in the cold garden for 5 mins. It should be peaking about now so hopefully in a few weeks you will start to feel a little more like yourself xx
Thanks for the tip. I’ve been burping a lot more the last two days and with the nausea getting worse, I feel that I might start throwing up soon. Thank you so much! ☺️
I had this from about 6/7 weeks until 16 weeks. Definitely speak to your midwife about meds as it is no way to live, it's exhausting! I do vouch for ice lollies too or sucking on ice cubes!
I had this from week 5 to 30 with my first and week 5- birth with my second. I was vomiting multiple times a day it was relentless. Ask for meds although they will ask how much you are keeping down so they may put you off if you’re not being sick. TBH the meds didn’t touch my nausea though. They just helped me to keep some liquids and some food down.
Glad you got something! I found one or two of the meds did nothing but help me feel very drowsy so I’d take one at night to help me sleep and prevent as much vomiting in the night as possible. If they didn’t work at all I went back and asked to try a different one. Yes I wanted babies but being pregnant was no fun at all! Hopefully yours won’t be as bad! Try to limit any bad smells too as that can be a trigger. And just eat whatever you can manage, the baby will be ok.
