My urine sample showed +1 for glucose on Tuesday and due to reduced foetal movement I was sent for a growth scan.
At the growth scan, a urine esample was taken again and my urine glucose was +4. I asked for a finger prick blood test but was denied this and I'm told to go in for a glucose tolerance test tomorrow morning.
Am I likely to be diabetic? What happens now? I'm so scared

hi hun i had gestational diabetes with 2 pregnancies. Depending on the severity of it, it will be diet or insulin controlled. Mine was diet both times. Needed to finger prick blood tests before and after every meal, and was put on a low GI diet. You have go keep a little diary and attend diabetes clinic usually once a fortnight. I kept it under control, and kept the sweet things in moderation. There's nothing to be scared of sweetheart. It goes straight after pregnancy. All drugs your on if any stop ✋ after delivery. They will monitor the baby for 24 hours after birth, to check he/she isn't suffering from low sugar as the excess sugar from you goes to the baby hence the bigger babies. Both my sons had low blood sugar. as soon as feeding was established, we went home. Doesn't really affect things. What did your growth scan say? Xx
Something similar happened to me recently. This is my 2nd child and with both I have measured big, as in completely off the centiles for the gestational age. Despite this, due to being a healthy weight I wasn't offered a GTT with my 1st (who was born 3 weeks early perfectly healthy at 7lbs 10).
With this baby I'm 34 weeks yet measuring 39, and have had lots of growth scans which have shown consistent growth. Baby is already estimated to be 6lbs 2. Anyways, at my recent MW appointment my glucose levels were +2, and again and the consultant clinic. I was incredibly ill with hyperemesis gravidarium until 20ish weeks and pretty much survived on sweet things so was convinced I had GD. had the GTT which came back as negative and my consultant isn't concerned in the slightest, she just says I'm one of those women who makes babies slightly quicker than others.
In hindsight, I always ate a very sweet breakfast prior to the urine tests which definitely didn't help! So try not to worry, I had all the symptoms and turned out fine. If you do end up with GD you'll be well supported.
Got my results. I'm not diabetic! My blood sugar is within the normal range Apparently it's normal to wee out some glucose in pregnancy. I did have cakes and biscuits an hour before scan.
