Part 12. The positive benefits of creativity; my day at the workbench: Cleaning up the cylinder seal, post soldering.

After pickling, you get to really see how the piece soldered and if any little extra areas need more solder. Once cleaned, filed and wire brushed, fully inspected it goes into the magnetic polisher to polish up, in preparation for having the spare silver edging cut away to reveal the graduated shape of the cylinder. The narrow plain sits uppermost and the wider plain sits beneath.

Almost finished now!!!

How perspicacious of you! It's a curious mixture of delight, relief and almost disbelief... Because it can be so difficult in places, when you get through it, you are SO relieved you think 'Golly, did I really manage to do that?!' Of course I didn't show you all the really stressy hairy bits!🤩

At times you feel daunted because its quite a lengthy process that requires a great deal of concentration and a steady hand... It's very hard work; but it has taught me patience and knowing when to walk away.. On the 'home straight now'...I suppose its all about delayed gratification really 🤔.. The best bit is the end. The finished piece! But very quickly, rather like a hurdler (Ha, I wish!!) the minute I conquered one project, I'm eager for the next. I guess I get a huge seratonin fix, so I must be addicted to it! 😁😁😁
