Hi ears,

Sorry to hear you are isolating and bored. For me it’s looking at nature, whether it’s animals or beautiful landscapes. Here’s a link to the 50 best places in the world - cntraveler.com/galleries/20...

I’m feeling very much the same. At first I sprang into action, gardening, housework, baking etc. However, now I have jobs stacking up. I’m not worried about it. I suppose I am treating it as a holiday from life!

I find I am quite happy eating cake and lots of other things I shouldn’t- and yes, I have gained some weight. Ordinarily I would take the extra pounds off as soon as they appear. So, when this is over, and we get back to real life, I will be rushing around like a maniac, catching up on jobs and half starving myself so I can get back into my decent clothes.

In the meantime, I’ll stick to watching rubbish films, repeats of ‘allo’allo, or any other non challenging tv viewing. Now, where did I put that trifle? Or should I have a scone? Too many choices!

Me too I go to bed intending to do jobs next day instead I just lounge about in my dressing gown eating about 3 breakfasts then lunch then snacks I drag myself out for a walk which makes me feel better but then I'm so tired again and it's tea time then supper I've put 4 pound on in few weeks but this was needed as I had lost over a stone 2 years ago due to major life stresses. I do feel better for things been in order and will de clutter my bedroom tomorror or the day after or maby next day 🤭

I'm shielding alone too. I'm lucky to have a big garden but....I'm not quite up to keeping it the way I would like to. I do what I can and try not to get upset about what I can't. I sew and knit and have started learning more languages with a free app. I took up painting by numbers too. I do have days when I just can't be bothered with much.

I am definitely not bored. I have so many hobbies. The one that is taking up so much of my time at the moment is genealogy. My brother and I have been doing our family history for years and mostly tracing my father's side. By connecting with someone else following the same tree through a common ancestor we are back to the year 750 AD. Absolutely amazing. Working on mum's side now just got to 17th century so far.

Hello Ears, Well I’m 75 and housebound due to Ataxia, have a lovely husband who can get out and about, thank goodness ,

The days are very long , On You Tube they have audio books to listen to .

Do lots of knitting and read books . Hope that helps , Also spend far too long doing jig saw puzzles on my I pad. Take care, hope this will give you a few ideas.

I started painting in lockdown, watercolours and acrylic, now I can’t stop. I think it’s trying to find something you feel a connection with. Maybe write a list of things you haven’t tried before and give them a go to see if you like anything.😊👍

I'm really into crafts. I do a lot of needlework, knitting and crochet.

I found at the start of the pandemic I was very busy and enthusiastic. I suppose at first it was all new and we found ways to cope and keep occupied. Now I'm getting bored and fed up. Some days I can't be bothered to go out for a walk. I wonder if this is because at the moment there doesn't seem to be any end in sight? I must snap out of this and be more positive. Maybe time to start making my Christmas cards.....

oh gohsh, sounds exactly like me these days, have to push myself out the door, even to pick up few groceries, some days I accomplish a few things ive put on hold, but lately more days of ugh, feel like lead hard to get moving

Sorry you are bored, and you immune system problems, I have something similar and have had to give up work over thirty years ago.

I find if you have diversions or hobbies to do that will help with associated boredom.

Generally I find gardening, reading and checking subjects to associate with my library one way of keeping my mind active. Also coming on these sites here also helps me keep my brain active as I am developing A sort of Dementia and I need to remain active.

We also take our dog Pax out for walks, in the morning He gets a normal sort of walk, in the afternoon we take him for walks on the beach or in woodland and that not only helps him also keeps the two of us active and breathing in fresh air

At the moment we are storing fruit and closing down the garden, for winter that takes time as we also prepare for spring putting additional daffodils and other types of bulbs .

One thing of course you make your own diversions, it all depends what you yourself can do to keep active

I find in the morning I suffer a great deal of pain so mornings are a time when I take it easy. In the afternoon we break up time accordingly so we do not overdue ourselves.

As long as you are careful and do not cause your disability harm you will find living life in some positive ways, you will feel better for it.

I am seventy years old

Keep a Hold and Well

Sorry, but I am not in the least bored. There are not enough hours in the day to do all the stuff I have on the go. Various knitting for charity, books that I have been storing up for ages, cooking, painting, radio, tv, taking the dog out etc etc. I do have sympathy for your predicament, but we are all different and as I live alone I have had this sorted for a long time. I do like to socialise but not really missing it.

I'm finding it very difficult. I lie in bed thinking of the things I'm going to do and then do nothing.

Oh yes, the Covid Effect is getting to me too. There are any number of things I could be doing, but its a grey day, which puts me into a grey mood. I could be crocheting, or painting,or sewing, or reading, or (horrors!) tidying up the place!

It hasn't helped that Wales has gone back into a full lockdown for 2 weeks, starting Friday, which puts the mockers on the Halloween grotto I was planning for the local kids. Never mind, I can still decorate the place for the spooky night and folk might enjoy looking.

Sorry to hear your shielding due to illness a friend of mine is due to COPD and other lung problems and she's back on antibiotics from another flare up so I said to her yesterday must feel like gone from winter to winter.

Do you have any hobbies always wanted to try? How's the perfect time to try.

Your not alone a lot of people like this I was fine in nice weather when could get out into garden but now weather changed not got that and till eye improves a bit more can't do my crafting so catching up on tv programmes.

I feel the same.

Don't feel guilty. I think many of us are in the same boat. I see my paperwork just piling up and not getting done. When I try to do something the energy killer Bisoprolol kicks in and kills my initiative or the people /businesses I need to reach are not around thanks to lockdowns and other things.

Rough times we are living in !
