I'm watching the news every day and see what's happening in the world. I'm also reflecting on how I can 'realistically' consider the good that can be seen.
If you'd like to share what you consider blessings that you find in your life, please share. I'll start:
First and foremost, this website is and has been a true blessing for us who have need for advice, friendship and solace with our health situations. Now, it's a true comfort in this time of pandemic. Thank you all!
Next, I have to shelter at home and not work. Fortunately, the company I work for is taking good care of me, so far. I still have my full time status, even though in September I suffered my first bout of heart problems and have worked part time ever since. They even logged me for Paid Time Off every week, even though this perk is for full time personnel. They are still paying my rent for my apartment! I am amazed at how caring this company is!!
Also, I'm able to get by on just my social security - so far. I cut out extraneous bills and memberships and my budget is now tight and manageable. I should have done this a long time ago, LOL.
Next, the mail delivery lady made all of us who work here some face masks. How thoughtful!
I've had time to rest, which I sorely needed since September.
Thank goodness my income tax return came in fast. I delayed filing because I thought I needed help, but I used an online service that did it for me.
My daughters are keeping in touch with me every day, which is a lot more than before.
Both of my daughters have been spared losing income. One is a teacher on contract, and she can keep in touch with her class via internet. The other is a nurse working in a state prison. They are even giving her overtime, as you can well imagine.
There's more I'm thankful for, but suffice for now. And what are your blessings? I hope you have many!

I am still going along, even if slowly, warm, good food, good friends who telephone regularly, a wonderful postmen who offered to get anything for me if I needed it. After a 5 hour struggle managed to get up my step ladder and read both my meters, (they are social distancing 6' apart, so have to move the b...... ladder and start again for the second one). When I input the numbers, I was told instead of the £33 a month I had been paying, the next year would be £9, a bit like having a savings plan, so very pleased.
So nice that we have things to be thankful for in this time of our lives. I'm glad everyone is sharing.
I have to share something a friend/ex neighbor was blessed with. He and his wife were given a Notice to Move Out of their apartment before Christmas. The property where we lived was sold and the new owners wanted everyone out so they could remodel. Twenty six families were displaced. My friend said everyone had a 'crappy' Christmas. I said, yes, but think about it.. Jesus' family had a 'crappy' Christmas when he was born. But his family was blessed. And so are you! Thank goodness you were given notice to move before the pandemic!! What a blessing!
Anyone who works for a government service is paid because money has already been allotted, also US government just passed law that government and military get paid FML for 12 weeks. A lot of people are volunteering, we are blessed.
Blessed that all family are all still working for the most part. Blessed to be able to pay my bills and still have my health insurance. Blessed that I live in Florida and I can go outside for a walk/bike ride without being on top of other people. Blessed that I have food, shelter, family, and people who love me. Blessed that I am able to breath, walk, and care for myself. Blessed in faith that I have a God who walks before me. Indeed I am blessed. Thank you for this site as sometimes I just have to remind myself of these things and writing it down helps.
Full employment with the ability to be productive from home
Groceries and food availability without too much drama
Online education for my sons
Financial safety net if needed
Plenty of great music, books, movies and shows to watch.
Full medical teams at UCSF, Stanford and Palo Alto Medical Foundation continuing to care for me.
I mean really, I have nothing to worry about. The above is a dream life by any account and I remember that multiple times a day.
My thoughts go out to all those who are sick, especially with COVID-19 and of course those of us with Prostate Cancer, all of those who have lost income, or those who are facing challenges in any way. We will get through this but it's going to be hard and take more time than we are being lead to believe.
Let's be safe (#stayhome), healthy and extra kind to each other.
Every day when God lifts my head, and lifts the heads of those that I love it is a good/great day. When God additionally allows me, and my loved ones to be fully able bodied, and able minded, with no pain or challenges, that is a bonus. I know friends who have lost 5 loved ones /co-workers due to the Corona virus. Me, my mom, dad and other loved ones have all probably had the Corona virus, Everyone is doing well, and were never hospitalized thank God. Only one friend who was sick with the flu for 2 months is now 25 lbs lighter. He went through 3 rounds of Tamiflu, and 3 rounds of antibiotics prescribed by his doctor. His doctor was telling him to lose weight for the last 5 years, so that he could have a back, and shoulder injury surgery. Well the Corona made some of the weight loss happen. I hope/pray he will keep the weight off, and continue to lose the needed additional 35 lbs to have his surgeries. To those who have loss loved ones due to this Corona virus I pray God will give you comfort, and the peace you need to get through the days ahead. When it rains, and it will, we must wait for the sun shine, and the rainbows that will follow. Amen God bless you, and stay encouraged. I send you virtual hugs, and air kisses XoXoXo
