It’s not getting any better except for the fire retardant bombers that showed up to make drops on the fire closest to us. That was very welcomed, however when they circle your house it’s never a good thing.
Massive planes that fly about 100’ off the ground and into the fire. The pilots say it is like pushing an elephant around on ice.
Once we had the Mars Martin water bomber from Canada help out. The largest of all. They carry a huge amount of water. A very old sea plane. Flies low, slow, and loud. You definitely know it is coming and are happy about it.
We also have converted 737s (I think) for retardant drops. Those are also impressive flying 100’ off the ground.
You can see what we have to deal with if you look at Sonoma county fires, California. We are near the Walbridge Fire. The Meyers Fire is to the south and is a bit uncomfortably close. Also check Napa county if you are inclined.
The bad news is that we have the potential for another round of lightning at the beginning of this week.
I am thinking about moving to New Guinea. No taxes or fires. I don’t think they even have headhunters anymore.
Take care everyone.
