This is my crabapple tree. They are generally skinny little trees you see planted as landscaping, but this one is likely one of the biggest in the county - 1 and a half stories tall and about the same width. The stems you see are about 8" or more in diameter, and the diameter at the ground is almost 4 feet. We got 7" of snow last night, so I grabbed a snapshot. You can see my car pretty snowed in behind - the lump at the right is a berm from my neighbor sneaking over with his tractor and very kindly clearing my driveway for me. The trails in the foreground are mule deer tracks.

Oh my goodness that's a lot of snow. I used to pick crab apples when I was younger and my mum used to make crab apple jelly.
I used to pick crabapples too.....and the snow in the Garden of England,Uk has gone! 🙂
They wouldn't 'alf give you tummy ache if you were brave enough to eat one Don😂
Yes, and I did, didn’t get many treats in my young days in rationed Britain!
Ripe crabapples are fairly bland (it's the skin that is bitter, and used to be the source of commercial pectin for making jelly). The juice is amazing.
A simple but very enjoyable pleasure to pick the apples. I'm so pleased the snow has gone Don, fortunately it's so much milder now👍😊
This year we harvested 60 gallons of crabapples off this tree and pressed cider. It's an astonishingly delicious juice.
That's amazing Wallowa, what a harvest!
That's incredible, what a harvest and I bet it really is delicious. I do love a cold cider.
dig out a cosy (swimming costume barmy 17. down south, Don. NOT UP NORTH, shivering 14 degrees monikax
The sun came out in the South West today but only briefly but it was lovely all the same. It's been a dry and no windy day - brilliant. I have to say I love 'up North', it's in my blood as my father was from the North 😊🌈
That does sound like a big tree. You have good neighbours Wallowa. xx
Yes I do! I even had one call me to loan me her car while she was in town. (I've got the horses covered for another night, and should have my regular vehicle back tonight or tomorrow).
That's so kind but no doubt you'll be glad to get your own vehicle back. Hope the horses were OK. xx
