Exciting Day

We got our predicted second round of massive lightning strikes and high temperatures. All day. The nice thing was that it also rained to help out out all the fires that started, and there were a lot of them.

We helped arrange food delivery for the fire fighters and stayed available to help out with emergency communications on the radio for the fire department and community.

The power went out for several hours during the midst of everything. Adds a new dimension of folks needing help with stubborn generators that refuse to start.

Feels like Tahiti being 80f and 80% humidity at the moment. This is at 9pm.

More fires are breaking out as I write. Trees mainly that have been hit by lightning. They are like 100’ tall torches sending embers everywhere.

These lightning strikes start fires that sometimes take days to find so we will be busy for awhile.

I sure am looking forward to winter and a vacation somewhere that has a lot of rain.

This sounds very frightening. I'm glad there are kind, helpful people like you to help out but please be careful. Let's hope you have more rain. Please take care Lynne

Very scary situation, you all must be very busy trying to keep safe. You are doing an amazing job helping out. Look after yourself. 👍😊

I often feel very envious of your surroundings as you describe and picture them daveh121, but I certainly don't envy you your current weather. I know how grateful I felt after just a few days' heat here so I do understand your longing for some winter cold and rain! 😊

That really does sound quite frightening Dave but well done to you and your family for helping out, such a lovely thing to do thinking of others.

I hope you manage to get away on holiday some time soon, depending of course where we all are with the pandemic.

Take care

The least of all this is that all the roads are closed. So no bike riding for awhile. Just the spin bike or running and dodging the road closure check points as I go.

I'm not surprised they are closed and a shame you can't get out on your bike but as you say you have the spin bike. The main thing here is to stay safe and I really hope you manage to keep away from the fires and I hope it rains very soon.

Take care

Probably no rain till October at the earliest which is normal for us. Things went well today.

Well I hope it's not normal and you get some rain. Thinking of you and your loved ones.
