Thank you all for the good thoughts and the good humor.
We are done with our fires, all seem to be contained.
We have been catching up on the garden, and other things that have been neglected for the past week.
Decompressing a bit, taking stock of what worked and what didn’t and how to improve for the next time around. All in all things flowed smoothly with a few glitches so we can’t really complain.
Sure is nice to get back to normal.
Since our roads have been closed for over a week there have been no mail deliveries. The post office, UPS, and FedEx are totally backed up with packages stacked up. I am sure it will take awhile for things to start moving again. Those offices will be working hard to get everything delivered.
It’s hard to believe we have just entered our fire season and there might be more coming up till the winter rains start in several months.
I did try for a bike ride yesterday but the smoke came in pretty thick after I started out so I had a short ride. Today was perfect though.

What great news daveh121. You all must be so relieved after the enormous job at hand. Time for some well deserved rest and relaxation with your family now. I am happy for you and your family that your property is intact and in good order. It’s good things are getting back to normal. 👍👍🌈
That's such good news dave, what a huge relief for you all and I wouldn't mind betting that Ike's relieved too as dogs really do pick up what's going on don't they. Good on you all for the help you gave, I bet the firefighters were glad you were there. All the best. xx
Delighted for you daveh121 and all who have been affected, including all your emergency services. Decompress is probably the best description for that post-emergency feeling, and it sounds as if you are doing all those things which will help.
So pleased you've come through unscathed and I hope that you'll stay safe until the rain comes🙏🌈👍.
Glad to hear the fires have stopped!
It's when things like that happen is when it makes you realise how most matters are petty when you put them into perspective!
I'm so pleased, this is excellent news. I'm so glad you managed to get on your bike albeit only short but glad it was better today.
Great that things went smoothly and long may your reprieve from the awful fires last. I can well imagine how 'up in the air' deliveries are, we rely so much on the postal/parcel system.
People here do rely on the deliveries being so far from town. It will take awhile for that to get worked out but we did get a package delivered, no mail but that is a good start.
I can well imagine that and a shame you are so far away but sometimes not a bad thing as it's much quieter when you are near cities, I definitely prefer it.
I'm glad you got a package delivered, that's really good considering the amount of fires you had.
Yay!!! Soooooo pleased to hear this!! A bit of normality back for you! I hope as the season progresses you don't get such bad fires again. My fingers and toes are crossed for you! xx
