Try new food Thursday - Semolina gnocchi and ricotta meatballs

Hi everyone, happy Thursday! I hope you are having some sunshine like we are having here in London.

This week I will share another creation from my lovely husband. We were given the cookbook SIMPLE by Yotam Ottolenghi as a birthday present and we absolutely love creating meals from it. The recipes have many middle eastern ingredients and some are quite difficult to find - so maybe not the best to try a complex one when grocery shopping is still a bit limited, but I would highly recommend having a browse through and seeing if there's anything you're interested in.

This week my husband made a combination of 3 recipes - Semolina gnocchi romana, ricotta and oregano meatballs and a fresh salad of cucumber, yogurt and nigella seeds. It was the perfect treat to start off our week and we were able to have it for leftover dinner the following evening. We were surprised with the gnocchi as we had never made it this way before with semolina!

What is everyone else cooking or baking this week? Do you have any nice plans (food or otherwise) for the long weekend?

Hope you are all staying healthy and safe!

what a nice salad to have in the sunshine! perfectly light for the heat. potato cakes sound lovely as well! have a wonderful weekend :)

Hi SadieHU, That looks truly delicious. I have a tagine in the oven as I reply. Chicken with preserved lemon and sumac. It's not a new dish. We eat it now and again. I love it because I can just put everything in the dish and walk away for a couple of hours. (not too much washing up!) Happy day 😃

Do you do your own lemons SadieHU? I made my first lot a little while ago. I was surprised it was so simple and they are very much nicer than the commercially prepared ones.
