Hi I’m Dalia and I’ve joined this site a while ago but haven’t really started using it and accessing information, until this lockdown. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after nearly twenty years of chronic pain after a car accident, which has at times left me immobile. I also have stage three endometriosis. Living with chronic pain has changed my life drastically and I’m now trying to seek radical ways I can adapt to life. Since the lockdown I’ve felt very low and depressed ( something I was battling before and was on medication in conjunction with all the other generic medicines given to treat fibro) but I’m drugs free now and I’m doing/discovering things like yoga, meditation and now just reigniting my lost passion for painting. I’m a writer and poet but since the lockdown I haven’t been in the right frame of mind so I’m hoping to gain some positivity and inspiration, make new friends and also equip myself with more knowledge on my conditions along the journey. 💜

Hi Dalia74,

I’m really sorry to hear of your ill health and having to cope with chronic pain. It is amazing that you are medication free. There’s some brilliant artists, poets and writers on here who post their work. It’s a friendly community.

Welcome. X

Thank you 💜

Hi Dalia, I have friends on another site that have fibromyalgia and hare on lots of different drugs which like any medication can give side effects.

I do think that if it’s possible for people to try the meditation yoga route that’s brilliant . Well done you . ❤️ Are you a member on the fibromyalgia site?

I think that you should try some painting again, lockdown is perfect time to try it. I prefer to describe living in isolation as living in solitude. I love solitude so living like this doesn’t really bother me.

This site is brilliant for passing the time of day and there’s lots of lovely people into so many different things 🌹

Thank you so much and lovely to “meet” you. It’s such a blessing to revisit this site properly and join this group of lovely people. It can feel isolating with long term illness without the added factor of a pandemic. Haha.. Believe me I’m no Picasso! I’ve not painted or drawn in twenty years... and am amateur at best, but I’ve been sketching today and just looking to have something to do which is therapeutic and mindful. I’ve had colouring books given to me in the past but it’s actually more stressful! So I’m hoping creating something from scratch will be a better medium. Have a great evening 💜

You are very welcome and thank you. I do hope you enjoy your sketching, I'm sure you will. You will get to know lots of lovely people on here, it's amazing. Night night sweet dreams 😘 love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Welcome Dalia. I also have fibro - plus quite a lot besides lol - and have avoided medication. Yoga is good gentle exercise and will help mobility and meditation is fantastic for relaxation. Sorry to hear the isolation has affected your emotional health, I'm sure you will find support and new friends here.

Hi there sorry I missed replying to you, I’m overwhelm by everyone’s welcoming responses. So lovely. I’m so glad you’ve managed to also avoid medication- I’m not pain free by any standards but I just couldn’t cope with all the symptoms of meds I felt like I had lost my identity - I appreciate not everyone feels like that on medication and it has helped others gain normality in their lives- but I felt like a zombie just existing and it didn’t altogether help my pain level at all or my moods. Thank you for reaching out 💜

This is a very friendly site! You may find responding to messages becomes your new full time occupation lol. As for medication, different things work for different people I guess and there's no one right way. Also we all vary in how much pain we are able to accept and how we deal with it. I think yoga and meditation can help your mental health which in turn can improve your physical health and your coping strategies. I personally am no good at meditation as I can't switch my thoughts off!

Thanks for your message- yes it has become a full time occupation to answer messages lol but it’s lovely- I’m not used to so much interaction ( not for months anyway) yes everyone is different when it comes to threshold level for pain, you’re right. I’m a grin and bear it kind of person as well which I’m learning not to do- it’s hard to change old habits. Meditation is hard so I’m trying to be mindful instead, like you I find it hard to switch off or on occasions where I have succeeded- I’ve fallen asleep! So I don’t think that’s the purpose of meditation! Haha. Have a great Monday and rest of the week. 💜Dalia

Haha. If you fall asleep meditating at least you got some rest! I've had a quiet day today as I did three hours in the garden yesterday. Enjoy your week and good luck with the mindfulness 😁

Thank you so much really appreciate the message and lovely to know you. Don’t know if I have the confidence to share my poems yet but I’m very glad to be part of a group. Managing a long term illness can feel very isolating. Take care and bye for now 💜

Hi Dalia74, great to make your acquaintance! I'm glad to see you decided to post. Sorry about your health challenges. I believe fibromyalgia month has just started to bring attention to the condition. One of our other members did an informative post about it earlier today. Really well done for switching out your meds for more natural help. That all sounds really positive. Right now is a challenging time for us all but you sound quite determined so I hope that you can get through the challenges of this crisis. It does call for being quite strong. I wish you every success with finding inspiration and positivity and finding new friends. Take care. 😊

Thanks so much for your message. It has been hard coming off meds but I’ve also felt better without all side effects as well. I’ll definitely check out the other posts on fibro. Thank you again. 💜
