I rode into my city centre again today on the hunt for more spelt flour and I found it - yay. I'm buying it when I can find it at present just so I have a stock to keep the starter going for the sourdough bread I make.
Sorry but there aren't any photos today as it was so windy and my rucksack was quite heavy I found it difficult cycling with a head wind.
Some photos tomorrow, I promise.
I cycled just over 19 miles.

Pleased you managed to get your flour π

Thank you. Isn't it funny that I get excited about being able to buy flour, just goes to show what it's like at the moment.
On a different note, I'm looking forward to your next painting.

Itβs not funny at all, I feel excited when my online supermarket shop arrives π
So you should! So would I! I haven't been able to get a slot since it started, from any of the large supermarkets. Fortunately my daughter is getting my shopping for us, up to now. Can't see anywhere on the booking site where it is checking credentials of customers before accepting orders. And I have looked. DH is 81, I'm almost 78. Both vulnerable with numerous health conditions. Both isolating. no transport. Definitely fit all the necessary criteria. How can I be sure everyone else with a slot does ? I shall be really annoyed if after all this is over I find out ANY able bodied youngster, especially if they have transport, have been given priority over us with genuine need. If we can't get a slot there must thousands of others like us in the same boat, who all meet the criteria, but are also being excluded. Surely it would be easy enough to limit people to having a delivery once a fortnight . This would ease the situation and make space for others. No one needs to have a delivery every week,if it means others are having to go without. Maybe the Government should check up on this and intervene - some hope! If their handling of getting protective equipment is anything to go by! Maybe we should all claim compensation. Money seems to be the way they sort everything these days! Glad I have got that off my chest! Take care and stay safe!
It was really good Ali and I'm getting used to all the hills now even thought I've been cycling for years. Yes I go on my own, in fact, I've been on my own exercising outdoors since lockdown.
What a lovely area you grew up in, its lovely at Tavi, as we call it. They'll be photos tomorrowπ
I'm getting excited for when I can finally go shopping woo hoo!!!

That's difficult for you. My hubby's not been out as he's asthmatic and our 4 year old granddaughter is on immuno suppressants for JIA (Juvenile idiopathic Arthritis) but she's doing really well.π
Stay safe and well.
β’ in reply to
Thank you, you too. Our son who is 24 is on immunosuppressents as he has Crohn's disease, diagnosed when he was 12. A horrible disease. Take care and stay safe Lynne
β’ in reply to
Oh no, I feel so for your son, that's an awful disease, so young to have been diagnosed.
You also stay safe and well and I'm also thinking of your son.π
When I left home it was windy but I didn't realise how much until o hit the headwind,it was pushing me back somewhat. Don't blame your Jack Russell, bless him.
I did have my rucksack to keep me warm as there was a cold wind, I bought4 bags of flour plus other bits of shoppingπ
Oh most definitely. I'm like a kid with a new toy when I can get spelt flour.
The situation is going to change a few of us I feel as before I didn't even think twice about picking up my flour each week. I now really appreciate being able to get it, even better it's a small local shop in the city centre I bought it from so that's supporting them.π. Win winπ

You deserve your treat of eating it when you've done all that cycling and then made the bread!! Take care and stay safe Lynne
β’ in reply to
Thank you Lynne, I'm really pleased with the way it's turned out.π
You stay safe and well.π

Thank you so much for your kind words. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx π
Yes I'm so pleased I got more, it means I can make the bread as well as keep the starter going.
Yes Plymouth is a big union and quite a good one by all accounts.
I'm not sure of the name of the Weatherspoons, it's certainly changed a lot now.
Oh I have been Jerry, a little too much LOLπ
Indeed why not, maybe I could walk/ride an extra mile tomorrow π
I can almost smell your spelt sourdough wafting up the M5, M4 past Heathrow and into west London, as you take it out of your oven.
The Spelt only Bread shop we had in Chiswick closed down nearly a year ago because of the disgusting amount of rent for commercial property in the area but the three years it was open the spelt bread was sooooooo delicious. Run by German bakers and staff and their Spelt flour came from Germany as well.
I remember in another post you telling me about your local shop selling the bread. Honestly the rental charges are ridiculous, how do they expect people to survive!
It's a lovely day here today so I'm off on another bike ride later taking a scenic route in the countryside.
Thank you. There were loads of cyclists on the road today, never seen so many and isn't it surprising what's happening with the lockdown as all you see are people walking, cycling or jogging.
sounds like you had a good day. I did load of housework as I live on my own now since my wife passed away 15 months ago never realised how hard housework is.
Thank you. We were best mates/soul mates too. She was 58 same as myself, lost her through the dreaded C word but I try to be strong and get on with things, no children so that makes life a little easier to manage.
Very difficult for you and Cancer is awful, I saw how much pain my dad was in with it.
You sound like you are doing incredibly well and now to concentrate on your lovely memories. She wasn't very old either, that's younger than me and it makes you stop and think.
Stay strong and safe.
We get excited just doing a click or collect to supermarket now and then 15 miles away, funny how our way of life has changed. Having said that, what with all this wonderful weather we are lucky where we live and having a garden to get out in, some folks are not so fortunate. Take care on that bike.

I know isn't it funny how things have changed,I wouldn't have batted an eyelid before. We are fortunate with the weather and if we have gardens and the countryside.
ttry laying off bread if attempting to lose weight.if literally hooked on it ration a slice or less a day.I get equally excited when get delivery slots, as those ARE LIKE A GOLDDUST.
I can fully understand. I've just read a very interesting article in one of my magazines about fasting. The woman in the article was very overweight and she had Type 1 Diabetes, her doctor said to her she needed to fast and he said start eating at 11:00 and finish by 18:00 and do not eat anything either side of those times. Also he said for her to cut out grains, sugar etc, she's losing weight really well and isn't finding it hard any longer.
Yes I can see if I go on the internet the slots are very few and far between and Tesco seem to be the worst for wait time.
Totally awesome! Enjoy yourself, wish I could ride my bike! Took a ride a couple weeks ago, woke up with a flat tireπ₯ had to order a tube on Amazon. Congrats on finding your flour!ππ
