I had a lovely ride today and cycled further today, a total of 34.7 miles. I cycled to Yelverton which is on the edge of Dartmoor. A bonus, I saw a horse with it's foal, so cute.

Dartmoor, my most favourite place of all time. I honestly believe in a previous life that I lived in or around Dartmoor because every time I used to go there, I always felt like I was going home (but not when I was near the prison 😁😁). I particularly felt it strongly in Tavistock. Weird isn't it? x
Isn't it strange we feel an affinity for a place. I feel like that with the Lake District, when I visit every year I feel like I'm going home. My grandparents are from Kendal but I never knew them.

Many moons ago, when I was still at school, we always used to holiday in Devon and my Dad always made a special trip at least one of the days we were in Devon to go to Dartmoor. I remember one time when we saw a gang of prisoners watched over by a prison guard rebuilding stone walls on the Moor. I made a special point of going there every year when I was old enough and we even used to camp on Holne in the farmers field there with our dogs. Lovely, special memories. x
Dartmoor is lovely and how nice to have such special memories. Must have been something to see the prisoners building walls.
