How do you qualify to be in isolation in Northern Ireland for Coronavirus?

I naturally assumed to be in isolation, in fact my GP told me I was isolated for twelve weeks to 15th June. People in Northern Ireland have not been given official notification that they are in official isolation. I was sent a letter for a visit to a Belfast Hospital for a primary visit for a proposed MRI scan, they were not aware that I was in medical isolation, they had to get in touch with my GP to cancel this appointment, they had been unaware of my general health? I am on PIP, have had epilepsy for fifty years, schwannomatosis, had a stroke, diabetes, deformed chest from birth, osteoarthritis, high blood pressure, etc, etc, medically retired for seven years, so had naturally self isolated from early March, but my sister told me I should have an official letter of some sort to confirm my situation, indeed some 'politicians' have said such letters have been sent out? Where are they?

My parents didn't get a letter ...they're over in the west. In Strabane.

They ve had a hard time as PSNI checkpoints were causing my younger brother problems getting to do his shopping and getting them some bits.

Its a bit of a cock up over there I feel

Yes I hope some 'people' in Northern Ireland get their fingers out, official letters need to be sent out to people in Northern Ireland, some people do not realise that Coronavirus could badly affect them because of their particular medical condition, my diabetes would not help, people's natural immunity will be weakened because of age. Letters that were MEANT to have been sent out to confirm particular person medical shortcomings, need to be sent out NOW!! ASAP!

Hi,

Our letter arrived at least a week before GP letters started dropping on mats. It came directly from the hospital where my husband had his transplant.

Like yourself, we had chosen to start isolating before instructed by the Govt.

A number of people have had to contact their GP to request a letter, it might be an idea to give them a call tomorrow.

You can also register on the gov. website which will help you to access shopping deliveries and will offer assistance if you need it.

Take Care.

Hi "Take Care" there is always an exception, I have been practically self isolated for years due to my health, one sister has just retired and lives about 5 mts walk from me, another sister about 20 minutes drive. They are supplying my needs, I have been isolated 5 weeks now, but these 'Official Letters' seemingly are rare things in Northern Ireland, and should be posted out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!! Communication for sufferers to appropriate authorities can be very time consuming, especially for the disabled, not all people are in my situation, and are not aware of what is properly entitled to in these morbid and troubled times! It is for them I am writing this post for!

I am SORRY that I replied! I used the sign off Take Care meaning Keep Oneself Safe.

Goodnight.

Hi Adlon, can you not get some advice from your local council about the letters?? There must be somewhere you can report it especially as you're retired medical?

I'm in south Yorkshire and was notified by mobile phone text to stay indoors for 12 weeks on march 23rd from the NHS. I've had letters from various deps since then pretty much saying the same thing. I really don't understand the problem in N Ireland....

I was diagnosed in 2005 with mild SLE, meds stopped in october last year as they said things were stable. I'm also asthmatic and have Sjogrens.

How are people there going to know what they're supposed to do if they've had no information or instructions? Thats very worrying, I can understand your concerns.

Its the same in Wales, and I believe in Scotland also. The YouGov site only covers England. As far as Wales is concerned the west Coast starts at The river Severn!

No I'm fine, it was just things in Northern Ireland seemed a bit slow as far as people getting the Official notification letter. I have been told by my GP to isolate for 12 weeks, my sister told me there was meant to be an official letter sent to people to verify there 12 week isolation? I have never been a healthy bunny, the number of pills I have taken over the years for various conditions etc, you could probably set up a Boots chemist? [I shall not go on with my medical history, other than one of my specialists has called me a "one off!"] I had self isolated from early March, my GP told me about result of a yearly blood test , I now have diabetes, and I am in a 12 week isolation from the 23rd March. I was lucky as in the right place at the right time but there are other people who are not really aware as they have received no OFFICIAL LETTER to confirm they are officially in isolation, they are the ones I am underlining!
