Anyone have success on Cymbalta? I've tried a few SSRI'S and after taking a gene test and 3 years of still being anxious on an SSRI my Dr. Started me on Cymbalta. Today is day 2 and I'm super nervous about side effects. Like will I melt into the floor or forget where I am? I'm also really sleepy. Anyone else feel sleepy on it? Have success?

Did your doctor tell you what the possible side effects of the medication may cause a person when using it?

Not exactly, but that's for the best as I'm sure he didn't want to plant the idea. Mostly I'm tolerating it better than Zoloft which gave me a lot of stomach issues in the beginning. He said Cymbalta was the best tolerated SNRI. I'm just always nervous when starting a new med. I have an irrational fear of losing my mind.

Yes, some doctors don't want to give their patients ideas of what a medication may cause to happen. One medication I had taken for an infection caused a break out of a rash. That was stopped right away and I had been switched to something else a few days later after the appointment.

If you read the side effects of any med it makes you not want to take it .... just have to go with what doc recommends and see how you respond. I agree....if it doesn’t work for you then don’t take it. But you have to give it time in your system to know .

🤓

You will need to allow about five weeks for this medication to get in your system

So you will need to be patient

Our daughter has just started cymbalta. Can’t tell if it’s the med or depression but she wants to sleep a lot more but then she doesn’t sleep well at nite so don’t really know. She’s been on it a week. Doc took her off lexapro .

Look forward to u posting about your progress.

I will keep you posted. I also tried Lexapro but felt worse on it. I struggled with insomnia and panic attacks in the night and early morning, so I was put on Remeron at night which was a game changer. If your Daughter continues to not sleep, it might be worth mentioning to her Dr. It helps you sleep while also helping with anxiety. The downside is it gives you a huge appetite. This is day 3 on Cymbalta, and I think the fatigue is less of an issue. Also coming down from Lexapro by itself can make you very sleepy if that was recent.

I have been on cymbalta for about 4 years. I was given it for anxiety, for which it helps somewhat, but it had a "side effect" of stopping a vocal tic that I had developed and thought was just a throat issue I had ( constantly clearing throat, short cough). My doctor, who by the way misdiagnosed my PD for 3 years, even though she calls herself an expert on PD, started me off on 30 mg, and built up to 60mg. I wouldn't go a day without it. Just monitor yourself for any side effects and be aware it may take a while to see results. Good luck!

Thank you. My Dad has PD so my heart goes out to you.

Cymbalta is ok as long as you start on a low dose and increase gradually. I've taken for over three years now. If you want full benefits you'll probably need the highest dose 120 mg. Anyway that's what I took . I stopped it as your body gets used to it so I'm on venlafaxine now.

Good luck with it 👍
