What We Did Today

I didn’t see where anyone asked what we did today and sort of missed it.

So this is what we did:

My wife and I worked in the garden. I don’t think it could be called a proper English garden, which all seem so neat and tidy. Weeding, turning in green compost and general preparation.

Regardless of the messy looks there is a lot there. Asparagus, radish, chard, collard, kale, lettuce, fruit trees, peas, carrots, beets, turnips, herbs, rhubarb, and more. The summer veggies are started and will be ready to go out in a month or so.

The two green tanks hold 10,000 gallons of water that was collected from the roof run off. That waters the vegetables throughout the summer since we don’t have rain for five months or so.

That is what happened today at our house.

This is Northern California, on the coast.

That all took more than one day!

Notice there are no pot plants yet. At least so far. I am sure our son will add a few for him. It is legal here. My wife and I would rather not. But, what the heck?

That is one BIG garden, more of an allotment 😊

It looks large. For us it doesn’t seem so since we love out of it throughout the year.

It is easier us to grow our own then go to town since it is such a long way.

Our community shares what we have. We are our own grocery store.

That's a very interesting plot you have there. I bet you can lose your self for hours keeping occupied. You're very lucky.

That can easily happen.

All I can say is this, quite a lot happened as you say...... Just look at the benefits of your garden :

1. Creativity

2. Exercise

3. Healthy food

4. Companionship

5. Fresh air

6. Vitamin D

7. Pleasures of nature

8. Great sense of wellbeing

9. Sustainable living

These are just some of the wonderful benefits. The photograph of your garden demonstrates the love and effort you put into it. Thanks for sharing it.

Yes, you put it well. It is all of that. And, saves us the drive to town for veggies.
