My anxiety is getting to me

The neighbours downstairs are blasting the musici

I have tried talking before but can be very aggressive

I reported in Feb this year with the noise App and it calmed down

Now the blasting has started again

I rang the Housing Management yesterday and they said they would get the housing officer to speak next week

I find it unbearable , so many are dying and she is blasting her music as if it a night club

Things like this really make me sad

Hi Roukaya ,

I know what you mean about loud music being played. Before we had our lockdown here, there were lots of nighttime parties that other neighbors would have and go beyond 11:30 pm on other streets nearby. Some of the neighbors on my street got in touch with the County Police (nonemergency) and filed a complaint for loud noise. The police would come out and give the ones who were complained about a warning about noise nighttime disturbances. If they did it again, they would be fined the next time they had to come to the person's home. That stopped it. :-)

I reported this loud music back in Feb 2020 I reported it to the housing association with noise recordings and it stopped

It has started again since yesterday, she must think the housing association is not working in Lock Down and this is why it is so loud

i will try again on to report the Loud Music

As I live on my own and she knows I live on my own I cannot go to the police

It is possible that the woman thinks that the association Staff isn't working, but you can try calling them and also call the police, too to come out. You don't need to go to the police station.:-)

Thank you for being kind enough to answer

I hope you are Safe and Well

You have been kind to me in the past and have offered my support

I think you are right , I expect she thinks the management of this block of flats are not working due to Lock Down

But I rang management yesterday and they said the housing officer will be in contact a some point next week

My phone has a noise recording application which records the noise and it is sent to the housing management team

I have seen I could also contact the neighbourhood police who deal with Anti Social Behsviour

How are you

How did you spend your day

Activity2004 in reply to Roukaya

You're welcome! :-) Yes, calling the local neighborhood police who is with the Anti Social Behavior Department is a good start. If it continues, then you can call the police back and say that it hasn't gotten better.:-)

I'm doing okay today. Had lunch and then got back on the computer this afternoon.:-)

I hope you are safe and well

I have recorded the noise and I have sent the loud music recordings to the housing a Management

I expect she will put her music on and off as she thinks no one is working due to Lock Down

I reported the incident yesterday and I will report it on Monday again

Can you wear ear phones, put your own music in your own ears, block their noise. Do something to get your mind off it, some people are very selfish, if you have already complained, do it again. Good luck

Thank you for reply

I do not have ear plugs and why should I use ear plugs because of their noise nuisance

I reported the incident on Friday and I will report it again

I hope you are safe and well

That happened to me as well recently and 3 times I had asked to keep the noise down after midnight but no luck and then I rang the local council night noise team and put in a complaint with them and they came round and heard the noise and ordered them to keep it down and had sent out a warning letter to them!

I haven't heard a peep from them since!

I thank you for your reply

I am on my own and I have recorded the noise by sound recordings to the Housing Association

This incident has been on and off for years and I reported in Feb this year and it had stopped

I think the neighbour downstairs thinks no one is working due to Lock Down snd this is why she puts on her music on and off

I think it is the sheet selfish and could not cate less attitude

So many are dying due to Covid 19 and she plays her Rap Music

I think it is this which saddens me the most

I hope you are well

The boots ear plugs are great aren't they?

We have a young couple planning to move on next door in July. They and their family have been upgrading the bungalow since before Xmas with visits after work and at weekends. BUT the banging is now really getting time now as I am not allowed to leave the house and garden for the 12weeks. I don't know exactly what they are doing but it's taking a long time. We've asked them to think about us and our plaster which is taking a battering through the wall but they still haven't talked to us. I sympathise with you!!!

Activity2004 in reply to Aliceeliza

Can you get In touch with them and ask nicely to please let you know when they will do construction/banging so you know when to expect it? Do you have their phone number? I would give them a call if that was happening here in my street's neighborhood.:-)

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Aliceeliza

I thank you for your reply

I think try to approach them and explain as we are in Lock Down to have some understanding

A incident like this can play on our anxiety given the Lock Down and Social Isolation

Thank you for reply

Life is stressful enough with its damage never mind loud music

I recorded the noise nuisance and it has been sent to the Housing Association and I will call again in Monday

What saddens me is that so many are dying due to Covid 19 but this neighbour down stairs puts on her music

I think until the authorities actually listen and warn her this will continue on and off

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to Roukaya

Isn't the Police Department working 24/7 by you?

Roukaya profile image
Roukaya in reply to Activity2004

I thank you for your reply

I live on my own and there is the neighbourhood police but I will contact the Housing Management Tesm

The neighbour downstairs may think they are not working but they are as I spoke yesterday to them

I have sent the recordings to the housing association and I will call again and explain she puts her music on and off thinking there is no one

She has now switched off her music but I think she will put the music on and off until the authorities have a chance to speak to her

I would only call the neighbourhood police as a last resort

I think I am sad as so many are dying with Corona she can play her music as if there is reason to celebrate

Activity2004 profile image
Activity2004 in reply to Roukaya

The only thing I can think of for her doing the loud music is: she feels down and the music must help get her to cheer up, but she shouldn't be blasting it for others to hear.

I can in some ways to relate, when we moved into our first flat we had the same problem, the building was full of young people and the noise was really bad, we also had problems with people and their rubbish, we lasted there for about 9 months and by that time we had been able to move on to our new home, it was hard for the first ten years, it was worth while to have just several next door and people seemed to behave themselves.

Generally people start off in places to get on the first rung of the ladder, Eventually we moved again because we got older, the problem is everyone has their own agenda and it can take time to find out what that is.

Thank you for answering

I hope you are well

I moved into this flat five years ago and I bought it

I bought it from my inheritance and it is a housing association flat

Some are owners and some are tenants

The neighbour downstairs is a young single parent who likes to entertain

I have had this problem for three years on and off

She can be very hostile and aggressive and I had reported her after Dec by use of the Noise App which records the noise and it is sent directly to the housing management team

In Feb this incident had stopped

It has started again yesterday

I think it is because she thinks as we are in Lock Down she can do as she likes ad no one is working

But the management team are working as I called them yesterday

I will call again on Monday

She knows I live on my own

What saddens me the most is that so many are suffering and dying with Corona but she can carry on with her music

I expect she will blast her music on and off until her housing officer warns her again

I hope you are safe and well

Hi Roukaya,

That's really distressing for you. And I can empathise too. I've had issues with noisy neighbours upstairs several times and it always takes such a long time for it to be sorted out, whilst you have to go on suffering. And, at the moment, the alarm at the car wash opposite my block is going off at around 3.30am every day, which means I'm having very early starts most mornings.

That so many are dying is really sad, but that someone is continuing to annoy others like yourself, unnecessarily, really does make you mad.

I hope this will be addressed for you as quickly as possible.

Sending good wishes to you and I hope that, despite the crazy noise, you have managed to enjoy some of your day.

I hope you are well

This had been an on going problem for a few years

As from Dec when the noise incident became too much I learnt how to use the Noise App and submitted the noise recordings in Feb and a very efficient housing officer acted very quickly and I had peace until yesterday

I live in a housing association flat

Some are owners some are tenants

I own the flat but my home ownership officer does not take me seriously but the home officer for tenants does

I made an initial complaint yesterday and U have sent the noise nuisance recordings which show the noise time and level of disturbance and thus goes straight to them

She has a habit of blasting for a few hours then she will stop

She was warned in Feb and I think she believes the Housing Management Team are not working due to Lock Down

But they are

I will continue to try

I am deeply sad with the loss of life concerning the Pandrmic

How can others be so thoughtless and inconsiderate when others are fighting for their life

She has put the music down but until the Housing Officer warms I can expect this to continue on and off

Thank you for listening

I hope you are ok

We are in Lock down for the last two weeks, it took a further week to get people to do any appointments in the first week, it should have been three weeks.

We get out for exercise and we are preparing the garden for the summer, so we are lucky to be able to have somewhere private we can go. It must be a real problem if you are stuck inside all day and only get out to do any shopping you may have to do.

We both have Diabetes, and I am registered Disabled so I can get help from various organisations to do shopping and pick up my medications from the Doctor, although at this time we get the Supermarket to deliver food when required.

This Lock down seems so punitive although if it is needed we need to do as we are told

Dear Roukaya,

Make a 'Formal' complaint, to Both the Police and your local Council's Enviromental Health Officer (Noise is a 'nuisance'). Follow this up by a LETTER, not an Email, stating your case/ grievance exactly. How Often, how Long, how Loud, whether you 'Tried' Talking/ Complianing directly to the Neighbours- along with their responce.

If you don't get a Reply, in say, three weeks (allowing for Covid) then write again, perhaps sending a 'copy' to your MP. In the mean time, ask your other neighbours if 'they' are disturbed also. Suppose numbers 15 through 56 are also 'Livid' with the racket too... you won't know until/ unless you ask. You might even make some new 'Friends', you never know!

I heard a, very funny story, from an old friend- many years ago. In his Street, one house had a Party- once a year, yes just the one, Daughters Birthday. Anyone who Complained, would simply get invited to the next Party. In the end 'Everyone' quite Looked Forward to this 'Annual Neighbourhood Bash'......

I hope that you can get 'this' Sorted Out soon.

Hi Roukaya, lots of practical advice here , so all I can do is give you sympathy. Neighbour issues can be hell, people are so selfish and when you have tensions with your neighbours it can be so stressful. We have been through it with various neighbours in the past and even here have one neighbour who thinks he owns the world, luckily across the street from us so we are not directly affected.

Even when it is not happening you do not relax wondering when it will start up again.

I'm just wondering if the layout of your flat allows you to create a 'quiet room' where her noise doesn't penetrate?

Music on earphones, earplugs to sleep are all practical help. Do you like classical music? Classic FM plays soothing music, and they produce CDs of relaxing music which might help you a little with tension.

Otherwise I just send you thoughts of peace and love, its all I can do but I mean it sincerely
