Good morning everyone,

This post is a slight 'hijacking' of the forum for a part-personal reason.

Yesterday I had mentioned the crisis my sister had had with her husband overnight. He's the victim of vascular dementia, and yesterday he took a sudden turn for the worse with elevated confusion.

But the warm words which so many people here sent to us, was lovely and deeply appreciated. I passed them on to my sister, and just wanted to report that the current crisis has passed and she's feeling better able to cope now. My brother-in-law has returned to a calmer state of mind for now too. And my sister was overwhelmed that complete strangers to her, had been so kind.

So thanks to everyone who helped support us with their kindness. This was a demonstration of how uplifting you all are and how you help to make this community such a positive and supportive place to be! πŸ™

It is a constant worry to care for someone with vascular dementia

I was carer to my Father who had Dementia and Mental decline

It is mentally exhausting but this is a disease which responds to buman affection and care and just touching the person will make the patient a million times better

My Father never openly affection but in Hospital I touched his hand and he grasped hold of mine

Small acts of kindness never to be forgotten

Thanks Roukaya,

I can see that you fully understand the challenges of caring for someone who is suffering from dementia, having done so yourself.

Sometimes, for so many reasons, our family relationships aren't all that great, but it must have given you a big measure of peace to have held your dad's hand at the end of his life. Moments like that are very precious.

Thank you. 🌷
