Breastfeeding and on humira

Hi my name is Betsy , and have been diagnosed with RA. I am currently on prednisone and just started humira. My rheumatologist knows that I am BF my 11 mo old. I have also called the infant risk center and humira is compatible with breastfeeding. I would like to know if any one else is BF on a biologic and their experience.

Hi bgcg

I'm sorry I don't have any experience to share with you with the drugs you're taking and effects of this on breast milk and your baby. It does sound like you've done all the right things by informing your dr and contacting the infant risk centre. I guess keep an eye on your baby and I imagine Drs will do the same.

Being healthy yourself is hugely important especially if risks to baby are minimal.

I did find this on Internet - maybe it'll be of use.
