I'd like to post a link to a podcast by Dr Myhill but I would like to check with someone before I do. I'm not sure how to message PMRpro or DorsetLady, for example. It is about nutrition and protocol for treating autoimmune disease as well as other illnesses. If someone can tell me how to check this before I post then I would be grateful - or I can post and if you feel it is not suitable (although I don't know why it wouldn't be) can someone take it down?

To PM anyone either select Chat in top banner, and then select New on page , you then need to start typing in name.. another way is to tap avatar if someone has replied to you.

Don’t see an issue if it is connected to autoimmune issues…. The only time there is a problem, if it obviously a sales pitch- although I guess that’s not in this case.

Have received, and as explained in PM will look at later…so just put on temporary hold please.

Dr Sarah Myhill is quite a controversial figure….

The GMC took her to court 38 times because they felt she was not working within their guidelines, i.e. was not prescribing enough drugs and was looking for causation rather than symptom suppression. As a GP she certainly used drugs and recommends prednisolone for PMR, without doubt. The GMC never won a case against her because her patients all improved so they could not get any of them to testify against her. In my opinion this is a sad indictment of the GMC in the way that they hounded her out of the profession and shows the control big pharma have over our doctors. However, I shall refrain from posting.

I totally agree Miserere. Dr Myhill is a well known and respected figure around where I live and I know many patients who have benefited enormously from her expertise. Why there is such a divide between ‘medical’ and ‘complimentary’ approaches to these horrible autoimmune conditions I don’t know…but suspect big pharma has a hand. Nutrition and diet are so important in taking a holistic approach to our bodies..especially when they can mitigate the side effects of taking these powerful drugs.

Absolutely, Reedmaker - big pharma, I feel, control our GP service and make lots of money out of it.

Not really big pharma - not anything like the divide here in central Europe. Our GPs also offer complementary diagnosis and management although on a private basis, it isn't covered by our equivalent of the NHS. But even in the drug lists they use, many are not reimbursed. You pay for pain-killers even if you need a prescription for some.

My GP would look at you blankly if you mentioned vitamin tablets etc. of any variety. They certainly have no knowledge about nutrition (Michael Mosley and Claire Bailey say they had barely a day's tuition) and as for complementary therapy I'd doubt any of mine would recommend it, but perhaps my surgery is not to be recommended anyway.

PS - do you live near her then?

No, she is in Wales, but I joined one of her online workshops where straightforward interpretation of my blood tests (take by GP) was an enormous help.

Yes - I know she is in Wales, at the Knucklas, near Knighton. My aunts lived there.

Also it only cost £40 to join the workshop - so she is accessible. The follow up workshop is somewhere just over £100 or thereabouts. Again, not out of the way price-wise for the information and guidance she is able to give. I did consult a nutritionist who wanted £200/month for a half hour chat and a list of supplements. If I paid him £5,000 then he would also teach me to understand what I needed over a 6 month period ... Hmmm. She is far better value and has years of experience both as a GP and nutritional expert. I know which one I value more.

Takes me back - I lived near Leintwardine until I went to uni at 18 and spent many Sundays visiting family in Knighton and the Knucklas.

I’m in New Radnor… was in Presteigne for 10 years then here for 17.. but will never be a local!!

Thanks for bringing this up. Typing her name into the search bar will find her for anyone interested - she certainly makes more sense than a lot of doctors I've heard!
