Im not sure where Inshould be posting this , so started here, for mos now, along with so many other issues, have had symptons that sound like sjogren s disease, mouth parched like cotton , eyes ,extremely dry, particularly on waking, or laying down, and hurting muscles and joints , although some pain caused by arthritis, so has anyone out there been diagnosed with sjogrens and if so what are symptons and treatment

Once you have an auto immune disease the chances of getting a second is increased. If you think you have Sjogren symptoms I should check with a doctor as there are several tests that they would need to carry out.

Fair enough for now but if it is diagnosed there is a forum dealing with that -

it’s easy to test for Sjögren’s via blood tests and/or litmus testing. The symptoms you mention could be that but could be many other things such as peri or menopause.

I was diagnosed with Sjogren's in my 40's, and am now in my 70's. My symptoms started with dry eyes, dry mouth and dry nose. I always used OTC eye drops and a humidifier next to the bed because nightime dryness is most problematic. Recently, after being diagnosed with GCA, the dry eyes became worse and I am now on a cyclosporin eye drop which helps. Other than that, there are no pharmaceutical treatments that have been developed that I am aware of. Plaquenil is sometimes used for Sjogren's. I tried it and it didn't help. Dental hygiene is really important, but no matter how rigorous, the lack of saliva causes caries. The Sjogren's Foundation has a wonderful website with info on research, products and patient stories and support. GCA is the 4th autoimmune disease, I have and right now it has risen to the top of the discomfort list, a place previously occupied by Sjogren's.

Sjorgen's is a beast! It is much more than dryness and itchy skin. I have all the well-known symptoms, but the worst is the overwhelming fatigue and all over aches. There is often internal organ involvement too. Kidneys and lungs particularly. I now have pulmonary fibrosis as a result. It's important that you get checked by a rheumatologist, as well as a dentist and optician. There is a group on here for Sjorgen's. Good luck.

Hi I have Sjorgons, I use eye drops daily prescribed by my gp. I use xylimelts which stick on the inside of your mouth to keep it moist overnight, these are available on Amazon. I wouldn’t be without them. I sip water all day or suck sugar free sweets because the dryness of the mouth is awful. I hope this helps you.

Sounds like me, everyday a challenge, especially mornings, do your sjogrens symptons come and go, find mine very bad through night ,parched , waking with tongue almost feels stuck to roof of mouth

yes but that’s why I use xylimelts bought on Amazon. You stick it on your gum and it keeps your mouth moist all night. I sip water all day,
