Sjogren s disease

Once you have an auto immune disease the chances of getting a second is increased. If you think you have Sjogren symptoms I should check with a doctor as there are several tests that they would need to carry out.

Fair enough for now but if it is diagnosed there is a forum dealing with that -
it’s easy to test for Sjögren’s via blood tests and/or litmus testing. The symptoms you mention could be that but could be many other things such as peri or menopause.
I was diagnosed with Sjogren's in my 40's, and am now in my 70's. My symptoms started with dry eyes, dry mouth and dry nose. I always used OTC eye drops and a humidifier next to the bed because nightime dryness is most problematic. Recently, after being diagnosed with GCA, the dry eyes became worse and I am now on a cyclosporin eye drop which helps. Other than that, there are no pharmaceutical treatments that have been developed that I am aware of. Plaquenil is sometimes used for Sjogren's. I tried it and it didn't help. Dental hygiene is really important, but no matter how rigorous, the lack of saliva causes caries. The Sjogren's Foundation has a wonderful website with info on research, products and patient stories and support. GCA is the 4th autoimmune disease, I have and right now it has risen to the top of the discomfort list, a place previously occupied by Sjogren's.
Sjorgen's is a beast! It is much more than dryness and itchy skin. I have all the well-known symptoms, but the worst is the overwhelming fatigue and all over aches. There is often internal organ involvement too. Kidneys and lungs particularly. I now have pulmonary fibrosis as a result. It's important that you get checked by a rheumatologist, as well as a dentist and optician. There is a group on here for Sjorgen's. Good luck.
I have it and seeing an ophthalmologist at the hospital in July. I’ve been using helps and drops even a heat mask but still having issues. I also have RA and lung kidney related issues.
Take care

Hi I have Sjorgons, I use eye drops daily prescribed by my gp. I use xylimelts which stick on the inside of your mouth to keep it moist overnight, these are available on Amazon. I wouldn’t be without them. I sip water all day or suck sugar free sweets because the dryness of the mouth is awful. I hope this helps you.
Thank you fo you have any other symptons, I have arthritis , pmr diagnosed 2016, rheumy says doesnt think have pmr now, still on 4 mgs pred, but muscles , joints hurting every day,
Hi Arvine, yes I have rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, PMR and I am currently on 6.25mg of pred
yes but that’s why I use xylimelts bought on Amazon. You stick it on your gum and it keeps your mouth moist all night. I sip water all day,
