Hi and welcome,
Unfortunately both are side effects of the Pred…. and hopefully should improve as you reduce.

As you say high doses, does that mean you have GCA .. would be good if you could put a bit more info on your bio/profile please.

Hi and welcome!
Yes, many people experience it at any dose of pred but some don't. But it can happen with untreated PMR/GCA as well - I had PMR for 5 years before starting pred and was moody and irritable, could fly off the handle at anything, And sleep was a nightmare, mainly because of pain. After starting pred it was a real improvement.
Hi D,yep, was down to 4 1/2 mg,had a flare,up to 15 mg now have disturbed sleep( again.,) and horrible vivid dreams.Just part of the lovely Pred I am afraid Slept better on lower doses.xx💐😜
Yes, very moody and have high anxiety, and the wake up call comes in at night at about 2 pm, give or take 30 minutes, and stays for hours. Then a nap after breakfast and again mid afternoon. Does not matter if I skip out on the naps I still wake about the same time , if I don't have the naps, I am terrible! Nap time 20 to 30 minutes.
ATM 20 mg morning and 5 mg at night, was on 10 at night and reducing to 5 has made no difference. Tried altering the time taken at night, no difference.
Pulse rate resting, anywhere from 95 to 106, Dr says it's OK! It's not! If I can get it down, I am much better for the moody and anxiety times to disappear, for a short time.
Seeing the Rhumy in 2 weeks and will talk to him about resting pulse rate, and what can be done.
