Hi folks , diagnosed last year PMR then suspected GCA so put on 40mg dose pred . Reducing since then , now on 6mg .Noticing psoriasis coming back on my elbows and in hair . Old back issues rearing their head again , why is this ?? I have the usual downside effects of pred , but have not had the other niggles . I take it this is the body going back to how it was pre pred ?? Why is this ? And presume this is normal and to be expected ? Grateful for any thoughts , many thanks

Pred often doesn't cure things on its own - it is a management strategy to calm the immune system down and relieve inflammation. So it is calming the immune reaction underlying the psoriasis and dealing with inflammatory issues underlying the back problems - what are they? Pred also tends to ease OA niggles as well but that reappears at lower doses.
Thank you very much for your response , clear as always but what is OA🤔? Back issues from falling of horses and a whiplash in my teens . On going , have a good chiropractor. Haven’t felt stiff or seized up since on pred , now getting niggles after gardening etc . Hey ho !
I, too, found my psoriasis worsened as I lowered the amount of Prednisone. My dermatologist gave me Ammonium Lactate cream to use and it has helped me immensely. Of course, everyone reacts differently to different creams, ointments, etc so I would recommend speaking to your dermatologist.
thank you for the recommendation
