Flare, short but reasonable return to original Pred dose?

Dealt with Flare increasing 9mg Pred to 12, not that easy in the meantime* (21days), but now wish to get back to 9mg.Not wishing to go to a DSNS programme, can you please advise me of a 'faster with caution' programme to reduce. *-( having to deal with other problems, eg etc after a train ride from Brighton to Derby with MILLWALL supporters to spend Christmas with Blessed Daughter and the rest of the Family that she had organized- would not have missed it but the aftermath.......Thank you, John

Dear scubadiver

As you have only increased your dose for a short time you may be able to go back to the old dose immediately or slightly above. You may prefer to take it a little slower though.

Try 1mg a week - or 1/2mg if you are nervous/it doesn't work.

Thank you PMRpro, I am working on it and so far ok. It is so easy to not be able to think straight at the time -its like the preferable 'when you come to clear the swamp....................John. ps. what I really need is some sunshine warmth and a warm blue sea........................

I think a combination of fairly rapid steps for the first couple, then more cautious as you approach your old best dose. You were at the higher dose for three weeks so I urge patience. I had a similar thing to deal with recently and after taking 7 mg (had been at 1.5, then at 3) for about six days I dropped by 1 mg every few days to 4 mg. But attempts to drop fairly rapidly from then on didn't seem to work. So I've reluctantly gone back to dsns, although currently using the four day turnaround and .5 mg each taper. What worries me is that I may not get back to my previous lowest best dose for several more months, but I really really really don't want to risk a yoyo effect, that would be worse. Good luck. Keep us posted!
