psoriatic arthritis: had anyone been diagnosed with... - PMRGCAuk
psoriatic arthritis
Are you on this forum which covers the subject - if not, you might find something useful on there -
After years of thinking I had PMR (which I believe it was) and being on steroids, the specialist who could never really decide changed her mind and diagnosed psoriatic arthritis. I have had psoriatic episodes during my life but I would not have made the connection with arthritis myself. My hands got very swollen and my neck very stiff and after scanning my hands they found significant inflammation. With this, they decided to try Barcitinib a biological drug and it has worked. I am also down to 2mg of steroids now and apart from the odd niggle I am good. I hope this helps...
It is strange - a lot of doctors WANT to make PMR psoriatic arthritis, my UK rheumy did! Then when there are all the signs with having had psoriasis in the past they ignore it!! They are now looking at JAK inhibitors in PMR I think - like MTX and the other DMARDs that work sometimes, I think success is in the cases they have mis-diagnosed. What we need above all in PMR is a reliable diagnostic marker.
Yes something better to help with diagnosed, Ive had psoraisis for years, still have seems worse use a cortisone cream doesnt seem to control so well, all I know is every joint in body so painful, especially wrists hands fingers and ankles, dont notice hip until I have to stand or walk, struggling to do the 5 mg top up or start the 1/2 mg taper so I can get off this pred and get on some ant inflammatory meds for arthritis, So at end of my rope with this chronic pain, and not being able to do things I use to do, baking, knitting even cleaning , only get out for drcappt, have friends that help with groceries, and psw help with laundry and wiping my floors, in tears couple times a day, and dreading on coming winter weather, and cold, make hard to getvl out tovappts
Then why not ask your rheumy if what you have could be linked to the psoriasis? There are good medications for that.
Yes Im planning on doing that as soon as I can get appt, apparently all booked up until New Year, and can I ask if you can suggest and name some of the meds, as you know Im in Canada
