I’ve been playing for about a year now. Our local tennis club set it up and we play in our local village hall. I play twice a week and also play table tennis regularly. Love it x
Several people have mentioned it in the past - mostly from the USA. Don't think the padel version has been mentioned though that seems more common in Europe where I live at least. They have just done a major rebuild of the sport zone in the village where I live and I THINK they have put in several padel courts but I haven't seen them yet so could be pickelball. So I doubt they will be expensive.
But diving straight in for 45 mins seems a bit much! Especially in heat - always start small! One article I noticed said it is easy to learn but hard to master!
I used to play non competitively with a group of friends. We were fortunate that we were able to play in an air conditioned building and were always able to get a court. As the sport became more popular we had to rotate and share court time with others, which was OK, except that we had to play against some people who treated the sport like an Olympic competition. Since I wasn't that good anyway, my interest waned after that. The few years that I did play I really loved it.
Always some who HAVE to spoil the pleasure of the ones who just want a gentle game! I enjoyed bridge when not under pressure - my brother-in-law and wife took it to extremes and forced us to play when staying. No fun at all! And his weekly letter to his mother contained a full analysis of the hands dealt on Saturday evening with friends ...
Shortly after I wrote this, I read in our local paper that someone has bought some property in town to build pickleball courts. It was not mentioned if they would be indoor or outdoor but indoor would surely be better so there will be no complaints about the noise. A lot of people are opposed to pickleball courts due to the noise of the balls.
I love it but that's when I shocked my system into PMR! Bending over to pick up balls, suddenly thought I had conjured up osteo in my good hips. I was playing like 10 games. When both shoulders suddenly joined the party, I realized it was PMR.I'm playing again, on 3.5 mg . a year and a half later . We both played tennis in the past.
